    Read the story ...
Faith Hope and Love ~~ a boy named Patrick & Sugarland ...
Mid 1990’s .. ... Atlanta Georgia ... Out of a suitcase, living on airline food. I had the opportunity to meet a young singer in Eddie’s Attack in Decatur - a gal named Jennifer Nettles (note: music and bones was the topic)!
I was mesmerized. I met her. Chatted. Awesome young sincere gal, with plenty of ‘intestinal fortitude! (that day was a beginning for me ... Inspired by Jennifer Nettles.) She was FAITH and HOPE and LOVE - in all her glory!
Fast forward thru life’s roller-coaster of ups, downs, loves, losses, life .... A long lost ‘‘true friend’s’’ path crossed ... A gal named Theresa .... From loves lost to loves gained, we met once again. I introduced her to Sugarland and again, FAITH happened! Her young son, Patrick was born to a single mom struggling. HOPE happened! A happy single mom, with her own ‘roller-coaster’ of life’s love and losses, some unheard of! She was a happy woman proud of her ‘bud’, her little ‘pattercakes’.
Fast forward after many, many trips to differing doctors regarding Patricks medical situation. From the treatments, the drugs, the differing diagnosis a few years of way too many down roller-coasters, Patrick was getting worse.
Theresa contacted me that he had some kind of Scoliosis for Adolescents.(Different from Adult Scoliosis) The operative here, being adolescents. { dictionary meaning.
Adolescents: The period of physical and psychological development from the onset of puberty to maturity.} Patrick is 7 years old!!!
Patrick was finally diagnosed with AIS (Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis with a curve of 16%-18% in February 2012. Patrick has been in that cast since then and still today. He was supposed to have it removed three weeks ago. When we went for the consult, Patrick had further complication on continued testing. Patrick’s curve was now 36%! Can you see the roller coaster again? (February to April!) Patrick was found, also to have an Arnold Chiari Malformation I with Syringomyelia!
For those that hate medical terms .... Arnold Chiari Malformation I, II, III:
Syringomyelia: to the spinal cord due to the formation of a fluid filled area with the cord that carries Cerebral Spinal Fluid!
You have to understand the medical anomalies here at work! Those being on the World’s Rarest Disease Web site of NIH! -- take a gander ...
Was her Faith being challenged? Was or is there HOPE? Too many questions!
Rewind a bit to the summer of 2011, were Patrick was under the care of a friend at her day care. All the kids were great! This afternoon, I was invited to her pool, where Patrick was frolicking in the water with his floats on each arm. We had fun, we, as they say, bonded. We had a ball! Guess what, LOVE happened again!
Now the fun starts! Though these hard times for Patrick and Theresa, I always would have Jennifer Nettles and/or Sugarland on at my house. Depending on her mind set, (Theresa) got the medicine - for the up and down roller coaster. --And she got it from Sugarland’s various song, there verse, their meanings, their awesome lyrics! It was our drug! Together there was LOVE. It was then, I saw in Theresa’s eyes, that same intensity I saw in that young lady way back at Eddie’s Attic so many years ago! And if you know me, you know my love of all music and lyrics! (Bias in favor goes to Jennifer, Kristen Bush and Sugarland the true artists and songwriters.)
Opps! Could it be .... Faith and Hope and Love!? If I may ...quote Jennifer’s answer when asked about the greatest job in the world, writing and singing music for fans ~ ‘YOUR’RE DAMN RIGHT’
Anyway, zoom in which ever direction your attention is focused on .. Hope it’s not too hard to follow ... Lol ..
I have three (3) Tickets Section 119 on the floor. Seat #‘s DD 3,4, and 5! These seats are for the vision and handicapped ‘patroons’! {yea Dutch}. Check out the chart of the Times Union for seating. (on the floor next to the SugarPit and front rows!)
Now zoom to that date: June 14, 2012! The concert date at Albany Times Union Center! It is also the day Patrick will have surgery at Albany Medical Center for reduction surgery of Arnold Chiari Malformation. Normally a 2 hours procedure on adults, but Patrick’s is estimated 5 - 7 hours of brain surgery. No guarantees that further surgeries or improvements are known for this condition!
Something to note: (craniotomy - A craniotomy is a surgical operation in which a bone flap is temporarily or permanently removed from the skull to access the brain. (feel free to email me to watch actual surgery of ACM reduction. Caution extremely graphic!)
So, as you can see, this concert was to be a sort of ‘bucket list’ for those old and young! We were so excited, we could hardly wait until June this year for the new tour! A struggling single mom with a very ill child!
Theresa was lucky enough to have seen in person Sugarland June 11, 2010 a Friday evening at SPAC! But no way! She and Patrick would not be able to make it! Not this time! There hope was dispelled by a surgery schedule!
FYI & BTW - Patrick loves to dance! (see this a quote from the mouth of babes, spoken on his mothers page: “... .I want to be a dancer and a cop or an EMT when I grow up .. ”)
Enough of my ramblings! .... Please check these out ... Faces to place on Love ...

    Facebook Page: Theresa Whiting
As great as she is, Theresa has insisted that I go with her Patrick’s sister to the concert to help fill at least half of a bucket list! He wants us to video and takes ‘pics’ with our phones! So we will be there for both of them in all our love, hope, and faith!

AND IF MAY NOTE: Sugarland is about 4 blocks from AMC when they are at Times Union! We will let ya all know about the show!!!
Hmm ...thinkin’ tour ... setlists ....wondering ... rules .... Feelin’ the beat .....Round and Round ... In a small town...April showers, what is June ... Tonight ..I’m ... wishin; ...... thinking.....all we are ... can we just stand backup ....hoping for little miss to find Love - our Patrick!
Any and all prayers for Patrick and his mom Theresa please and thank you! And with your hope, faith, and love, Patrick will live a life that’s full of Unconditional Love!

Well, thats most of the story, here’s the end: Faith, Hope, and Love, and Love is the greatest of these!

I am not very good at singing "Baby Girl"by myself but if I sang it with Jennifer at the same time it would be okay.I am much better at singing "Stand Up" or "Come on Get Higher"or "This One Goes Out to the One I Love."I could also sing "Shine the Light"with Jennifer!Of course I would change the lyric"I will shine the light" to "Jesus shine the light" I believe Jennifer would be blown away by this! All the best to everyone in Sugarland.......LOVE......John
