Your prayers needed. [Updated 8/15]

"I am so moved. Moved by the grief of those families who lost loved ones. Moved by the pain of those who were injured and the fear of their families. Moved by the great heroism as I watched so many brave Indianapolis fans actually run toward the stage to try and help lift and rescue those injured. Moved by the quickness and organization of the emergency workers who set up the triage and tended to the injured. There are no words to process a moment of this magnitude and gravity. There are only prayers for peace in the hearts of the bereft, and prayers of thanksgiving for those who were spared or safe. A piece of our heart is left in that grandstand. May God provide peace and healing to the people of Indianapolis." - Jennifer Nettles

"Our fans just came to see a show, and it ended in something terrible. My heart is totally broken for the families and friends of those who lost their lives. It's broken for all the people who got hurt, for the people who were scared. I thank God for every person who lifted a truss, who pushed against that metal to get it off someone; for every person who used a chair as a stretcher. I thank God for every fan and emergency responder, for everyone who ran to the trouble instead of away from it. The courage of those men and women will forever be with me." - Kristian Bush

We wish to pass along our most sincere thanks for the messages of love, prayer, and support from our fan family. We'll post any further updates here as they become available.

Hi, my name is Shannon Walcott. My daughter, Jade and I were seriously injured at the state fair. I have an e-bay receipt confirming the purchase of 2 tickets on August 13th but my sugar passes to this day are still somewhere within the wreckage. Could I request 4 tickets for the two of us, my son and a driver? I would really appreciate it as you happen to be our favorite band. The state fair was our 3rd mother/daughter sugarland concert...2nd concert in the "sugar-pit". My e-mail is swalcott@huff.com. Thanks so much!! Love you guys. Shannon

I would like to say Im sorry for how the press is treating you in this, namely, The Associated Press. While Im not a fan of country music, I find your decision to not hold the Indiana State Fair council to their end of your contract beyond humble and admirable. For that particular writer for that particular news agency (more of a tabloid if you ask me) to portray you in the way that article did is despicable.

Youre an artist, and a business, not a charity, and your decision to forego your RIGHTFUL payment under the implicitly understood and legally binding contract and its conditions therein, that you and the fair council both found to be reasonable upon signing, is ABSOLUTELY an admirable and compassionate thing to do. Kudos to you, and God speed in your emotional healing and well being.

    Sincerely,
    Daniel Emerson
Heavy Metal guitarist from central Indiana

I am a local musician here in Indianapolis and I was stricken with grief and disbelief, as we all were, when I heard of the tragedy that took place at the fair. Being a songwriter, I tend to deal with these feelings by retreating to my guitar and lyric notebook.
I wrote a song about the accident and would love for it to be used in whatever way possible to help the family members of those affected by this disaster.
You can listen to, and download the song at: ryanmbrewer.bandcamp.com Any money made from purchasing the download there will be donated. I hope we can work together to make it the biggest aide to the ailing families it can be.

I was at the Sugarland concert on August 13 at the Indiana State Fair ( on my birthday). We have lived here in Indianapolis for the last 20 years and go and see Sugarland whenever we can. It was as bad as they made it sound. Those of us in the Sugar Pit....well you've seen it. I saw them open for Brooks & Dunn in 2006 and was hooked ! We have been Fan Club members for quite a while. We are thinking of driving to Allentown PA and/or Syracuse this weekend to see them to help with the healing process but of course don't have tickets. Any one out there know of anyway we could get tickets and drive 600 miles to see them ? Thanks.....Gregory R. Johnson

I had planned to attend the Sugarland concert at the Indiana State Fair that night, but my plans changed; I had to go to the hospital for other health issues. I'm
okay now.... If I had been there, I most certainly would have been right in front of that stage....I am so moved by the fans & emergency crews who rushed in &
helped people. And, I am moved by the caring, encouragement & compassion
of the Sugarland Band. -- Love, Sally Dee Perry

Thank you Sugarland for your tribute in NM! I love that song and it was so appropriate. You guys are one hell of a group. May you find peace and comfort as you continue your tour. Your fans that lost their lives in this accident are now your tour angels singing with you every time you step on stage. Prayers always for those families hurt or lost loved ones and prayers to you and the entire band for strength and comfort. Tragedy's like this remind me once again that at any given time God can and will bring us home. So remember to say I love you; hug your friends and family; smile at a stranger and say hi and enjoy each day to the fullest. Peace to all of you.
