With everything changing, the only place to go is onwards and upwards. In Kristians words below he resolves to "dream bigger." Find out what other plans are in store for Kristian in 2013 in his New Years Resolutions below!

From the pen of Kristian Bush

Every year I sit and stare at the pile of lyrics at the end of my sofa that remain unfinished. Journals, random bar napkins, hotel notepads from as far away as Italy and as near as the Holiday Inn down the street. Some pieces of paper in that pile were placed there while I was in college, some from high school, others from last week. For fun sometimes whenever Jennifer and I needed inspiration for a song or were just interested in a little bit of lyrical roulette, I would close my eyes, put my hand in, and pull out a sheet and we would write that song. It has given us "One Blue Sky" and "Everyday America."

I consider the time between Christmas and New Years a kind of cocooning that exists for me to reflect on my year, gather my receipts for the accountant, finally go through my closet and find out what doesnt fit anymore, and to dig through that basket of songs that are waiting, patiently, like dreams that want to come true but havent yet.

It is this moment, every year, that I feel like in my hands the paper and words and ink and scribbles are windows that I can see through. That I can see out there in the distance amazing things. Like shapes coming into focus. Like dreams starting in my periphery and slowly circling, making their way into view. I resolve this year to dream bigger, pull out more dreams from my past and trust them, and put more dreams backin every day from which to pick.

Happy New Year

Kristian

From
Wed, 19 Dec 2012 10:40:00 -0800 Holidays From Jennifer & Kristian!

The Holidays really are Jennifer & Kristians favorite time of the year, and we want to share their well wishes with you in the video below!

Heres to hoping we all were on Santas nice list, and that the year 2013 is filled with joy, love and laughter. If youre looking for a quick and easy list, search no further! Kristians provided us with another easy Holiday Gift Guide to soothe your shopping needs. Check it out below!

Here we go again: The holidays are here, and we all start depending on each other and the Google search bar for answers on complex gift-giving. Well, my friends, here is my collection of stuff I like and stuff I dare you to give to yourself or others. They say the best gift is the one you want to keep for yourself, and I would gladly (or embarrassingly) keep all of these for myself, if given the option.

Drinking Situation
This looks kind of crazy Southern and awesome and has to hit my list. Not because I want one, but because I am dying to buy one for someone. Maybe even just to see someone drink out of it. Its like my obsession with the TV show "Bootleggers" has collided with my obsession with walking around Syd Mashburns in Atlanta. Simultaneously hip and tacky.

The Prisoner
If you have someone in your life that enjoys wine, this is a real treat. I dont know how popular this wine is in real life, but I think it is pretty amazing and it is popular in mine.

Palomino Blackwing 602
I think last years Palomino was a gateway drug and now I am staring down a long dark hallway of beautiful, perfectly-sharpened grey Palomino Blackwing 602 pencils with black erasers. Now its all I think about. How do black erasers remove pencil lead and make it disappear into the white of the paper??? Good news: You can find out for yourselves, because the good people at the Palomino Pencil Company are offering Sugarland fans a discount and exclusive offer this holiday season. Click here to purchase!

CB I Hate Perfume
I am still obsessed with these. The Smell of Snow one is amazing, as is the Beach one.

Unraveling Calendar
I have not really been interested in a calendar since maybe college, and then it was only for the pictures, and less for the marking of time. This is the first time I have seen something that makes me curious. Although it means making sure you dont have a pet or a two year old running near it, this calendar may be one to really show time moving.

Cigar Box Guitars by Mike Snowden
These are hands down the coolest things I have found this year, and that is honestly even in comparison to the new donut shop down the street. I give these as gifts myself. I love Mike and his craftsmanship is unreal. If you have someone in your life that plays guitar, they will love this, and if you have someone who doesnt but always wanted to? Well, three strings are the perfect way to start.

Concert Bracelet
This cracks me up every time I see them. I wrestled with these things for years and years trying to get them off. Now someone has decided they are ready to go back on. For the rock club girl in your life. I think they come in silver as well.

Angry Birds Star Wars Everything
Enough said here. Choose the Empire. Long live the 501st.

Bezzerwizzer
This game is pretty awesome. I had it on the bus this year and bought another one for my house. My kids actually think it is funny to ask me an entire card full of questions while I make breakfast just to see if I can answer them all. Its like working out, but with your brain.

For The Art Collector - James Hance
When I have vivid dreams and my brain mixes up all of my favorite pop culture books and movies and TV shows and it all smears together in my mind as I shake off the night and begin my day, sometimes all the right things are misplaced in all the right places. Jamess art is like that for me. It is perfect.

For The Gadget Person - Photojojo Phone Lens Series
So Instagram gives my life more meaning with every lomographic click of my phone screen, and the filters make it so that my plastic camera itch is easily scratched without all the waiting to get film developed. Now the missing part is all of the cool lenses that "real" cameras have. Wait, the sounds of ingenuity in the distance seem to be jingle bells this year. Check out these cool, easy-to-use tiny lenses for your phone camera. They really work and will blow your mind how much they change your pictures. I like the fish eye and the wide angle.

This Years Headphones
OK, so I live for music and I travel every week so my headphones are my stereo. Here is a quick guide to some quality out there, no matter what you have to spend.

First things first: It is socially ok to have big headphones again, so please, if you have the space in your carry-on or bag, take the closed-back headphones with you. We musicians and producers work hard to make our music sound as interesting and cool as we can when we record, and shoving sound out of plastic ear buds is like looking at pictures in black and white instead of color.

Okay, preaching is finished:

AKG K77
Stylish, affordable and sound good.

Sure SRH440
These are your mid-range, your Honda Civic, workhorse, wont-have-to-replace-them-in-five-years headphones.

Audio Technica ATH-M50S
I use these every day. Its what I listen with when I record, and when I evaluate my own music and recordings. Get the curly cable if you are feeling retro.

I have only tried the Dr. Dre Beats headphones once and it was more for the novelty of talking on my phone through the mic that hangs off the headphones. I didnt get to spend any time listening to music so you are on your own there. They are quite popular and come in groovy colors, but look at the ones above for price comparisons.

Toys Section
The Original Silly Putty
I totally used to spread it out and use it to lift the pictures off of the comics. The most distinctive smell ever.

Army Men
We could play with these for hours on end, invading the living room and then retreating back to the kitchen.

Water Powered Space Rocket
Because I still am amazed every time it launches.

Top
The top is one of the oldest toys in the world. They say that the spinning top originated independently in cultures all over the world. To me, it is one of the most fascinating and hypnotizing examples of physics. Get one and see how long you stare.

Curve Balls
(aka things I cant believe that I found that I kind of want)

We need this in our lives. All of us.
U-Socket USB Wallplug

Just to see if anyone at the coffeshop is looking.
TARDIS Journal

I dare you. I just dare you.
Bluetooth Handset Gloves

- kb

From
Wed, 05 Dec 2012 12:55:00 -0800 Joins Country to Country Music Festival Show in London This March!

We are thrilled to announce that our very own Kristian Bush is part of the lineup for the inaugural C2C: Country to Country Music Festival taking place March 16 and 17 at the world-famous O2 arena in London!

Not only will our very own Kristian Bush be performing, but he will be joining an all-star lineup that includes names like Tim McGraw, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, Vince Gill, Little Big Town, LeAnn Rimes, and Brantley Gilbert!

"I couldnt be more excited to be playing across the pond with my Nashville friends and peers," Kristian says. What an incredible, bittersweet way to cap off this tour. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

We got a little taste of the crazy Las Vegas can bring beginning with the stage. The stage was over a wave pool which you would think would stop people, but the water was filled to the brim with all of our Sugarfans! Jennifer asked the audience at one point if they knew they would be standing in the pool and if their feet were getting pruney. This didn't seem to bother any of you in the least!

It really was one big pool party last night. There were beach balls bouncing through the air and fans were wearing neon-colored swim suits joining into the tour theme. At one point Jennifer turned to the lifeguard and asked, "Is being a life guard a good gig or a bad gig?" Maybe this will be Jennifer's new job next time around -- A singing, dancing, lifeguard!

A few of our song choices were very appropriate for last night. The song "Little Miss" triggered this quote from Jennifer, "I realized that we were in Vegas. The lyrics I was singing during this song were very appropriate. 'You gotta lose 'til you win!' Just a thought."

Our "Sing With Sugarland" winner was Kristen Merlin. We like to think of her as a girl by day, absolute rocker by night! She walked on stage and had a voice that blew everyone away. Jennifer and Kristian were LOVING it! Instead of hands swaying side to side, Kristian pumped up the crowd by getting them to move their hands up and down. Just a reminder of how much we loved that part of each show!

A sign last night that caught Jennifer's attention was a long one, but it worked! Jennifer said, "I like it when you make signs that have every song we've ever played. That way we're bound to play one of your requests! Very clever!" Another sign made by Mitch and Diane was for their son that attends school at Tulane and requested "One Blue Sky." Jennifer and Kristian sang it, dedicated it their son, and dedicated it to the entire state of Louisiana. It was a very cool moment.

Towards the end of each night a band member typically requests one song. Tonight, in an effort to throw everyone off, they requested "Call Me Maybe." Jennifer said, "I don't know this song!" However, once she said this the entire crew ran on stage and started dancing to it. Jennifer introduced all of them and thanked them for their wonderful dance moves.

Thank you, Las Vegas, for leaving us higher than life! We couldn't have asked for a better way to conclude our tour. Another thank you to everyone who made these past couple of months possible. The tour was In Your Hands and now it's forever in our hearts.

From
Mon, 03 Sep 2012 07:10:00 -0700 Your Hands Salt Lake City, UT September 1

If youve never made a trip to Salt Lake City, UT we suggest planning one now! Youll find a beautiful city, eat some great food and most importantly meet some AWESOME Sugarland fans! Thanks for your loyalty even through the rain last night, Salt Lake. We love you!

We had some lookers in the crowd last night including a huge heap of you all wearing ponchos and cowboy hats. I think you may have started a trend! Jennifer wore her blue pants and a tight shirt showing off that cute little baby bump while Kristian sported his black cowboy hat, matching all of you!

During the song "Everyday America" we chose Casaya, age five, to hop onstage with us. She is a huge fan of Annie, our bass player, and even dressed up like her for Halloween. That made it so exciting to get her up there with all of us! Oh, and it was her birthday which made it all the more adorable.

We werent kidding when we say the rain didnt stop you all. Last nights "Find the Beat Again" may have been the most interactive version of that song weve seen. There was endless amounts of stomping, dancing, and jumping all around.

Right before "What Id Give" ramped up Jennifer turned to the crowd and said, "I didnt know you were so romantic, Utah!" Then Kristian took the reigns on a rocking solo midway through the song. We know theyre both rockers at heart!

We had tons of great signs last night that will make our books for most creative. One requested "April Showers" and talked about how a man and his wife got married, divorced and then married again. Jennifer said "I love a good story! This is the fun part about the In Your Hands Tour. We can write a song and share a story with you, but since it is in your hands, you share a story with us! We like to learn about you too!"

Great baby gifts also came from Utah last night, even a yellow hand-stitched blanket. Jennifer will hold that one near to her heart! What a treasure! Another shirt was made that said "Nettles is my baby mama." Hilarious!

Last night was the final show for our friends Canaan Smith and Lauren Alaina. During "Stay" Canaan, Lauren, and Jason - Canaans guitar player came on stage and started to shave Jasons chest. This changed the lyrics to the song to "Why dont you SHAVE!" Oh how we love a good tour prank!

Our "Sing With Sugarland" winner was Brynne from Salt Lake City. She auditioned with her sister, but only she got on stage with us to sing "Baby Girl". Brynne swayed back and forth and sang the song like a true champ. At the end of it she got off and said, "Is this real? Did that just really happen?!"

We couldnt thank you enough for everything you did for us last night, Salt Lake! This is the last weekend of the tour, and were so happy and honored to have spent one of the final nights with you all. Hopefully well be back the next time around! Share your favorite show moments in the comments below.

From
Sat, 01 Sep 2012 22:26:00 -0700 Your Hands: Aspen, CO August 31

Weve traveled to the country, the beach, and green hills. Mountains you ask? Last night was one of our firsts! Thank you, Aspen, for treating us to such kind hospitality as well as a show we will hold near and dear to our hearts.

Although it was called the Snowmass Festival, we were working with clouds last night. However, that didnt stop you all from gettin down with us. We saw crazy dancing, tons of blinking lights, and heard you all singing loud and proud from the moment we walked on stage. Even the security guards were having a good time!

We played the show sitting down last night, but you all were still so appreciative. Jennifer said at one point, "Normally we are running around on stage, but as you can see I am smuggling another human inside of me, and since we are 8,000 feet up I am going to sit my prego snowmass right here!"

As you all probably know by now, Kristian and Jennifer love heading into the crowd looking for friends to bring on stage. Marlo, age 8, was a guest on our set during "Everyday America." Such a sweet, fun girl! We sure are going to miss meeting new people when the tour ends!

Another fun girl that graced our stage with her presence was our "Sing With Sugarland" winner, Erica Johnson. Ericas dad submitted a video of her singing "Baby Girl" for a talent competition. He wasnt able to make the talent show because he was in Afghanistan, but he was certainly there last night! Kristian invited him to join them for the last verse, and you could tell both KB and Ericas dad were proud fathers.

We would also like to extend a special thanks to a few of our friends - Canaan Smith, Lauren Alaina, and Steve Miller Band who all helped make last nights show oh-so-special! Thanks again for a great night and an even greater crowd, Aspen! Well be making our trek up the mountains again sometime soon!

Check out the set list here:

From
Sat, 01 Sep 2012 08:10:00 -0700 Your Hands...Volume 4

When we decided to put the show into your hands, we knew it would have effects of all different shapes and sizes. We would learn what songs you loved, what makes up the personalities of our fans, and how both of these elements affect the way you understand the meaning behind each of our lyrics.

One song that was particularly influential during the course of the tour was "Baby Girl" which was brought to life during the "Sing With Sugarland" contest. The song opened our eyes up to what the words meant for all of you and who considers themselves or someone they know their "Baby Girl."

A moment during the "Sing With Sugarland" contests that will forever be burned into our minds happened a few weeks ago in Prior Lake, MN at the Mystic Lake Casino. Jennifer invited four-year-old Avery and her mom Jennifer to the stage to help her sing this Sugarland favorite. Averys story goes a little something like this:

At 22 months old her parents, Matt and Jennifer, noticed that Averys smile was crooked, her balance was off, and her walk was very stiff. On April 30th, 2010 their world stopped when the family heard the words "inoperable brainstem tumor."

In an act of desperation, Matt and Jennifer decided to contact St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital in Memphis, TN who accepted Avery as a patient with open arms. For the first time since Avery was diagnosed, the family heard these kind and comforting words from her St. Jude doctor, "Were not going to give up on your baby girl." After 2 months of treatment, the tumor has shrunk 85% and remains stable.

Thanks to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital and supporters like radio station K102, Avery just celebrated her 4th birthday. She is a happy little girl who loves her big sister and her family!

Averys battle with cancer isnt over yet, help her and other patients at St. Jude win the fight against cancer. You certainly know how to make our heartsbeat out of our chests! Weve played shows in Tennessee countless times, but last night was really something special. Thanks for joining us, as Jennifer always says, in a wonderful night of music!

We took it back into an arena last night after all of the amphitheaters and outdoors shows, and something about the closed-in space lent itself to an intimate feeling between Jennifer, Kristian, and all of you. Of course, there are always specials moments had by the band and the crowd, but last night had some exceptionally beautiful ones.

If you were there, youll probably never forget the moment Jennifer had with four-year-old Lacey who sat high on someones shoulders wearing a white jacket with the Sugarland wings. During the song "Tonight", Jennifer bent down on the stage and sang the song directly to the little girl, having her chant back the words. It seemed to move just about everyone in the audience!

You were also extra crafty last night in the making of your signs, Memphis. The stores that sell glitter are probably having to replace it all right now! A couple that got nominated from the crowd for having the most spunk were one held up by all balloons requesting "Take Me As I Am" and one covered in flowers asking for "We Run". Both were performed, thanks to the artistic skills of your fellow fans!

Our "Sing With Sugarland" winner may be someone to look out for down the road, folks! Aliyah Giden was her name and she was quite the singer at the age of 16. She jumped onstage, embraced Kristian and Jennifer, and got right to belting the tunes of "Baby Girl". Her mom was backstage, grandmother was in the crowd, and both couldnt have been more proud!

We got to see her reaction firsthand, but there were some other fans interviewed behind-the-scenes that youll get to hear from soon. As we said, "In Your HandsVolume 4" is in the works and its sure to be a good one!

Thanks again for reminding us how deep the Tennessee roots grow and how supportive they can be! You all are an inspiration to us and a reminder of the power of the Sugarland community. Keep the FedEx Forum lights on for us, well be back!

From
Sat, 25 Aug 2012 07:25:00 -0700 Your Hands: Alpharetta, GA August 23

Its wasnt some shock, strange coincidence, or unnerving circumstance when we realized that last night was one of the most energetic weve seen on this tour. It was a hometown show, goodness gracious! However, we will say that we knew the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre was going to be ready to rock and roll, but we didnt realize youd be rocking that hard!

Last night was about three of our favorite things: fans, family, and friends! Jennifer helped remind us of this when she changed the lyrics to "Stuck Like Glue" to be "stuck together from the ATL". She did this and you all went nuts! Beer slung through the amphitheatre while high fives exploded in the air.

Between the beer slinging, whistling, singing and cheering, it sounded like a giant roar coming from the arena at all points. One of the louder eruptions happened when Jennifer and Kristian lit up the stage with "Blood On Snow". The front row, in particular, absolutely lost it! Jennifer began the song saying, "Its hard to understand the light without understanding the dark," and ended the song with a spooky laugh. It was chilling!

We had one of our good ol Georgia boys grace us with his presence during "Stay" and "Life Is A Highway". Yep, you guessed it! "Duets" runner-up John Glosson came to help us out with those songs. It was a good little reunion for Jennifer and John!

We not only had special guests last night, but we also had some really specials signs in the crowd. One of our favorites of the night was a sign that resembled an enormous "cootie catcher". Jennifer said, "Its one of those things that used to get you into trouble in grade school! You know, it tells you who youre going to marry." Another sign had Jennifers body photoshopped on a princess and Kristians on a cowboy. Jennifer also pointed out one sign for Brittany Brunn and Brooke Coulter that requested "Mean Girls", and of course they got what they asked!

We snapped some great footage of last nights show, and in just a few weeks youll be able to see what we mean by the indescribable energy beaming from Alpharetta! The footage was taken from one of our devoted fans, Erica Bjork. Erica has decided to head out on the road with us in order to actually put the show in YOUR hands and capture the tour from a fans perspective. Stay tuned to see what we mean!

As you can tell from the picture above, last night we tipped our hats and bowed to you, Alpharetta! Thank you for the overwhelming support and the simply contagious energy. Of course he had to represent the city of his alma mater, but he also explained the reason for this choice in an illustrative, Kristian-esque, 80's lovin' way.

"I remember the first time I snuck into the White Dot. I was way too young to be going in there, and I went in there to see this band play. It was as if it blew back every hair on my face." Low and behold the band, playing in a small dingy venue at the time, was none other than Drivin' N' Cryin'.

Listen to the complete interview and find out what other songs and bands made it to Kristian's "Radio Free Lunch" DJ list.

From
Thu, 23 Aug 2012 14:05:00 -0700 Your Hands...Volume 3
Crocodile Rocks got nothing on our tour, according to our young fan Colin! It gave us a reminder about the power of a strong Sugarland community and how beautiful all the pieces sometimes fit together. Thank you for keeping it real and enjoying a perfect night of music with us!

The stage was outside of the casino, and the only real lights came from the glow of the stage. This helped illuminate the crowd and draw out the community feel. You can tell from the picture above how incredible the entire vibe was and just what we mean about everything coming together last night in Stateline, Nevada.

Jennifer and Kristian dressed up just for you all with Kristian wearing stripped red pants, a black shirt, and his favorite black cowboy hat. Jennifer donned her bright blue pants, neon yellow shirt, and a white winged jacket with a heart and wings. They looked awesome, but Jennifer complimented others like 8-year-old Mia who came onstage during "Everyday America" by saying, "You have a nice tan and look so pretty!"

Another fantastic fan moment happened when Jennifer received a special gift from the crowd. One fan gave her a onesie for her baby on a hanger. It had wings and a heart printed on it. Jennifer decided to let it hang from her mic stand for the night!

During the song "Tonight" people really started getting into the show. There were folks holding their hands high in the air and dancing in their seats. Other songs that had such a strong connection for everyone were "Little Miss" and "Stay".

Well keep that in mind for the next time we come! Speaking of songs from last night, we had you all vote on which song you wanted that started with a "W". The winner was "What Id Give" which rocked the house. Kristian performed his long guitar solo and did it from his seat! After the song was over, Jennifer said, "Well that was fun, there was heat coming off of your seat!" Kristian replied, "No, its just because of the altitude."

They both remained sitting for most of the show, but you all were so receptive to it and Jennifer was so very appreciative! She joked at one point saying, "What an adventure being pregnant! Speaking of adventure, lets talk about the drive here today. I bet you havent done that drive on a bus! You feel like youre flying off the edge, but the scenery is so so pretty!"

Jennifer also helped sum up the entire night in one succinct sentence, "Thank you for all of the presents, and flowers, but the real present we want to thank you for is sharing a moment with us. A moment of great life and our music!" Thank you again, Stateline, well be back one day!

From
Sun, 19 Aug 2012 07:15:00 -0700 Your Hands: Brownsville, OR August 17

Last night turned out just how we like it, Brownsville, and we only have YOU to thank! The hills were green, the festival was fun, and everyone gave it their absolute all. Thanks for showing us just how Oregon likes to party!

We knew it would be a fun show as soon as all 15,000 of you walked into the arena, but we didnt know it would be that fun! Front row, we have to call you out for being absolutely nuts. This may have been the first time weve seen an entire row pop, lock, and dropping it, and it was awesome!

Jennifer did have to give the rest of you a shout out by saying, "How are you all doing in the wayyy back?" The response to this was hands in the air and twirling on the ground. Couldnt have asked for a better answer!

We had some good jokes with all of you last night in addition to the dancing. Jennifer said at one point, "Willamette is known for its Pinot Noir. I am kinda in a bit of a dry spell, but we will have to come back!" And come back we will do!

Last night we decided to whip out some 80s "Pour Some Sugar On Me", and when Kristian had his guitar solo at the end he walked down the light-up catwalk. You all went crazy, and Kristian and Jennifer went wild!Another great song played last night was "Come On Get Higher". This time Jennifer was given the chance for a guitar solo, and an acoustic one at that. It was a special moment for everyone.

We saw some more dancing by everyone during "Already Gone", but this time it was slow dancing. Jennifer explained the meaning of the song before it even started which probably got you all on your feet.

Thanks again, Brownsville, for showing us such a great time! As Jennifer said to you last night, "We are doing this for the sexy people!" Were already planning our next visit, so see you soon!

Check out last nights set list below:

From
Sat, 18 Aug 2012 07:40:00 -0700 Your Hands: Airway Heights, WA August 16

Was it the sun in our eyes, or were you all an exceptionally lovely crowd last night, Airway Heights? Not only was the show completely sold out, but the weather was perfect and you all had more groovy moves than weve seen yet!

Jennifer and Kristian walked out onstage with sunglasses over they eyes and huge grins on their faces, and this made you all go nuts. However, the party didnt really get started until the strum of "Stuck Like Glue" filled the air.

During one of our favorites, "Everyday America" we brought 12-year-old Catlyn on stage to wow us with her Spokane charm. Jennifer asked, "Where are you from?" Catlyn responded, "Here!" Of course Jennifer came back with, "Here as in the casino? You cant be because this is a casino and you are not old enough!" What a jokester, Jennifer!

Everyone was jiving so well last night that at times we even thought you were reading our minds! Before "It Happens" officially ramped up, all of you were clapping and grooving along like you knew what was about to occur. It was almost eerie! A picturesque view of the amphitheater was illuminated by the sun setting when "Who Says You Cant Go Home" began, and it created one of those perfect concert moments.

A few special guests included Daytona Tracy, the 2012 Oregon State Ambassador, as well as Kristen and Daisy Pool who won the "Sing With Sugarland" contest. All three girls hopped on stage and treated it like they were natural born-to-be stars. Jennifer sang the song "Joey" to Daytona and the Pool sisters rocked out some "Baby Girl". You all really were such a fun crowd, down to each individual!

A few signs that stood out in the crowd were a collage of all things sweet, a giant sign shaped like a tooth that said "Sweet Tooth" and a sign talking about candy that asked, "Are you from Canada? We dont have pop drops here." Lots of sugary sweet signs in the crowd last night!

Thanks again, Washington, for giving it your all and for bringing it harder than ever! Simply put, you guys rock. Well be back as soon as you let us come!

For your viewing pleasure, check out last nights set list below:

Photo credit: Andrea Anderson - Oregon State Ambassador photo & Valarie Allyn Bienas - featured photo

From
Fri, 17 Aug 2012 08:10:00 -0700 Your Hands: Sturgis, SD August 9

Leather and motorcycles and bikes oh my! Sturgis, last night was one for the books. How can we ever expect to play a show now without the audience revving their engines and honking their horns? I guess well have to come back some day!

We loved that there were no seats and only a huge lawn. It made for one giant dance party the whole night long! Jennifer got into the Sturgis spirit by wearing bright blue pants and a Harley Davidson Tshirt, and Kristian hopped on board as well by donning his leather cowboy hat.

Not only were people dancing on the lawn, but they were standing on roofs and decks over the crowd, and there was a zip line that hung over the crowd. It really was a wild atmosphere! Jennifer turned to the rowdy crowd and said, "Playing a show is like going to a zoo. You think you are looking at the monkeys, but theyre really looking at you!"

At one point Jennifer really cut loose, high-fived some strong looking men in the audience and admitted, "The wanted me to enter in the Ms. Buffalo Chip contest, but there is such a thing called being too sexy!" This only made the men in the audience show off their muscles, and we werent disappointed!

We had some special guests at last nights show that helped amp up the already contagious energy. The man from "American Pickers" was in the crowd, and Jennifers uncle made it out for the night. Jennifer said, "My Uncle Walter rode his hard ass 3,200 miles with his two buddies to be here tonight! I love him so much and am so proud hes here!"

Another special appearance came from our Sing With Sugarland contest winner, Carly Hines. Carly brought her precious daddy onstage with her, Terry, and they shared this moment together. Their story goes a little something like this: Carly and her dad heard the song "Baby Girl" on the radio back in 2004, found out who the artist was and became immediately hooked on Sugarland. "Baby Girl" was the father/daughter song they danced to at Carlys wedding, and tonight she sang it to her dad for his 60th birthday. What a cool experience! Jennifer and Kristian absolutely loved it.

Last night truly was a night that will never leave our thoughts and minds. It was wild, fun, crazy, wonderful and all of the above! Thank you, Sturgis, for sending us into the weekend with an extra pep in our step. Looking forward to the next time we meet!

From
Fri, 10 Aug 2012 07:40:00 -0700 Your Hands: Prior Lake, MN August 8

Ever since last night in Prior Lake, its safe to say that Wednesday nights are the new Saturday nights for us! From the moment Jennifer and Kristian walked onstage each one of you stood and the energy pumped through the crowd like the sound of their beating drum. Thank you, Prior Lake, for sending us through the rest of this week on the ultimate Sugar high!

From the beginning when Kristian invited 19-year-old Cari Keller onstage during "Everyday America" through the end of the show, there was a whir of magic in the air! The clouds were in the sky cooling off the air, but no rain touched the ground. Instead it made for a picturesque pink backdrop as the sun was setting.

In addition to the weather, we loved some of the songs and requests from last night! Even Jennifer got excited about the votes via Twitter and asked the audience, "You can vote via The Twitter?" Kristian said, "The Twitter?" Jennifer laughed and responded, "Yes, The Twitter. I am The Older!"

Some of our favorite and most clever signs were, "Oprah wants you to play These Are The Days for my 18th bday!" Jennifer said, "Well you didnt have to throw Oprah in there. You wouldve just gotten it!" She was clearly feeling extra spunky last night as she also decided to lecture a couple of college freshman who had the sign, "This is the last thing we get to do before college." Jennifer explained to the girls that the rules change in college. Shes going to be such a good mom!

As at every Sugarland concert, there are a few moments that truly take your breath away. One of these moments happened last night when the "Sing With Sugarland" winner took the stage. Avery is a 4-year-old girl who was diagnosed with a brain tumor when she was 22 months old. The doctors told her family she had three months to live, but when they took her to St. Judes those doctors said, "We WONT give up on your Baby Girl."

Jennifer, Averys mom, took her onstage and sang Baby Girl while Avery danced and clapped for the entire audience. What a beautiful moment that was for everyone involved. Were so honored that we were able to be a part of Averys journey!

Thanks again, Prior Lake, for proving to us just how magical a Wednesday night can be if you add in all of the right ingredients! Well be making our way back as soon as we can!

From
Thu, 09 Aug 2012 07:45:00 -0700 Your Hands: Mt. Pleasant, MI August 5

Last nights show in Mt. Pleasant had a funky, different vibe and you all seemed to love it! Thanks for bringing some of the most heart and soul weve seen in awhile, we wouldnt have had it any other way!

Jennifer and Kristian started the night out in chairs facing the audience, wearing sunglasses on their faces, and creating an overall jazzy, bluesy "dinner for two" kind of atmosphere. This made way for an intimate, magical night between Jennifer, Kristian and each one of you.

The show kicked off with "Stuck Like Glue" and you all couldnt have seemed more amped! Jennifer felt like a rockstar with her sunglasses on and guitar at her side. This rockstar feel combined with a low key vibe had Jennifer admitting to you all, "Today I am having one of those challenging days. I hear when you have those days things such as laughter and movement are bad. So instead of canceling I am going to sit my preggo ass down and rock from the top up.... There is a lot more going on up here then there is down there anyway!"

And boy was she right! The vocals were right on cue, the energy was uplifting, and the weather couldnt have been more perfect. Your requests were some of our favorite parts of the show as well! During the request "Fly Away" the wind was blowing and the sun was setting in the background creating the most picturesque image.

"Little Miss" was another one of the songs voted on for last night, and Jennifer and Kristian were thrilled to bring it to the stage. The song was dedicated to Erica Bjork. Jennifer asked to the audience, "Erica are you here, honey? Where are you? Oh, hi!!" That should give you an idea of just how intimate this show was!

Some of the signs we were most excited about included one that said, "If youre happy and you know it Stand Up!" Another one asked "Whos your favorite sinner?" Kristian guiltily raised his hand, and Jennifer decided to do "churchified."

One of the most thrilling parts of last nights show came from the "Sing With Sugarland" winner who brought a crazy amount of energy to the stage. Before the song even began Tammy was laughing, crying, and giggling. Thats the kind of effect this tour can have! When walking onstage Tammy through off her shoes and sang the entire song barefoot. Now thats some spunk!

Jennifer ended the night graciously saying to you all,"Thank you! This was a first for us...Playing like this. Weand love you and hope to be back again soon!" We couldnt have asked for a better audience for last nights show, Mt. Pleasant. You truly outdid yourself! Well promise to be back as soon as the wind brings us your way.

Were you at the show? Talk about it in the comments!

From
Sun, 05 Aug 2012 14:51:00 -0700 Your Hands: Detroit, MI August 4

What a show in Detroit last night - a sold out Sugarpit, a rowdy crowd and did we hear someone say Star Wars? Thats right, members of the Great Lakes Garrison 501st Legion were on hand to help keep the peace at last nights show!

The show started with a bang of the drum! Did anyone notice the shadows of the Storm Troopers behind the curtain? During the second song, the curtain was finally lifted and the Storm Troopers were revealed! Jen asked the crowd, "Do you like surprises Detroit?". Her question was followed by R2D2 joining her onstage with a guitar and the familiar sound of R2D2s beeps, clicks, and whistles. Kristian translated, "Somebody needs a new guitar!"

Later in the show when Kristian walked out into the crowd to give away a guitar and collect signs, the Storm Troopers and Darth Vader came out on stage to dance. Now thats a sentence we never thought wed say!

During "Stay" the crowd sang along so beautifully. We of course have to point out that the signs in the crowd last night were out of this world! We especially liked the Twister board. When Jennifer saw it in the crowd she said, "I am too pregnant to do those moves!"

There was another sign with Michael Phelps on it requesting "Come on Get Higher". Clever clever! One sign that caught our eye was a sign made by a girl named Ashlee. It read, "Hoping my prego ass can sing onstage to Every Girl Like Me with your prego ass!" We of course pulled her up on stage and while the band was busy tuning guitars Ashley and Jennifer were busy comparing pregnancy notes. During the song fans threw balloons on stage and Kristian put one under his shirt pretending to be pregnant as well.

Were you at the show in Motor City last night? We sure hope so! Leave your comments below and may the force be with you, Detroit!

From
Sat, 04 Aug 2012 20:17:00 -0700 Your Hands: Cincinnati, OH August 3

Oh-me-oh-my-oh, Ohio! What did you think about the show last night? We knew that Cincinnati would be a thrill so thanks for making sure we were right!

Last night was sure to be a good time once Jennifer put on her all neon outfit. And she wasnt the only one! The pit was filled with bright colors and suped up signs!

The crowd came from all over the world. We even heard about someone from Iceland being in the crowd! Our Sugarpass members started lining up as early as 7:30 AM. Last nights crowd was clearly an ambitious one and we couldnt help but keep up!

So how did we do this? For starters, Jennifer and Kristian chose a song they hadnt sung in years. After seeing the request for "Blood on Snow" beautifully written on a canvas background, they decided to give it a whirl. We told you those signs work!

A couple of other songs that stood out included a Christmas sign that Jennifer called the "coolest sign ever", a bunch of lovely birthday signs, and one made to look like a giant name tag. After sorting through them all Jennifer said, "I like when you guys are clever! Lots of glitter!"

The signs were incredible, the outfits were wonderful, but our fan performances really took the cake. Brenna, age 10, popped onstage to sing "Everyday America" and she absolutely blew us away! Our "Sing with Sugarland" winner, Shannon from B105, took to all of you so well and gave a great rendition of "Baby Girl". Maybe we should get someone from the crowd to help us sing every song!

We had such a blast with each of you last night and wouldnt have traded our Friday night for anything else! Well give yall a heads up next time were in good ole Cincy. Until then, take care and keep dreamin!

From
Fri, 03 Aug 2012 19:54:00 -0700 Your Hands: West Palm Beach, FL July 29

Hot diggity dog, West Palm! It was a scorching day in Florida, but that didnt stop you one bit. It only made for one big, warm welcome complete with palm trees standing high and confetti on the ground!

The show began with every audience member on their feet, and that of course got us amped for what was in store. Not only were you on your feet, but your vocals were all warmed up for us too! Jennifer even complimented everyone saying, "Thanks you guys, you sound so pretty!"

During "Everyday America" we brought 9-year-old Austin on stage from Jupiter, FL. He danced the song away as the rest of the crowd sang back and forth to friends and family. However, this song was just a warm-up for "We Run". The energy, jumping, singing, dancing, heel-clicking, and more almost blew us off the stage!

After these songs practically led by the fans, Jennifer decided to take things into her own hands and choose the song "Fly Away". Why this song? Jennifer said to the crowd, "Lets play a sign with feathers, I am a sucker for feathers."

Not only was this sign impressive, but a few others caught our eye. One with the song "We Run" had a picture of running shoes Jennifer said it was "abstract art". Another had written on it, "Youre the only sugar in my diet." Well isnt that sweet?

Towards the end our "Sing With Sugarland" winner, Brooke Eden, graced us with her presence. Its safe to say she was one of the best singers weve had so far! Not only was her voice in tune, but Jennifer also commented on her outfit saying "Well dont you look cute!"

Thanks to everyone who came out last night to help make it such a memorable show, and a special thanks to Joe Burke who attended his 100th Sugarland show last night! Well being seeing you again one day, West Palm!

Leave your show stories in the comments below!

From
Sun, 29 Jul 2012 20:15:00 -0700 Your Hands: Valdosta, Ga July 28

We headed to Georgia last night to get a little taste of that southern hospitality, and boy did we get it! Thank you, Valdosta, for a night well never forget!

With Jennifers hometown being only miles from Valdosta, many of her friends and family showed up in the crowd to cheer her on. So if you felt like there may have been an extra special something in the audience, thats exactly why!

Jennifer even looked into the crowd at one point and yelled, "Regina! Is that you?! We used to twirl batons together! And oh my! Is that your little one? It must be, shes just as pretty as her mama!"

A special guest arrived at one point to help sing "Stay" and "Life Is A Highway". It was none other than this seasons "Duets" runner-up, John Glosson. It was great to see Jennifer and John reunited on stage together We knew the finale wouldnt be the last time!

As we started to play "It Happens" rain began to sprinkle on the stadium. If you know the meaning of this song, then you realized this was pretty ironic! But just like in the song, things may not go just as you would like but "psssh it happens"!

Right before "County Line" was played into the arena, Jennifer had to make a quick call to her uncle. Why? She needed some "Southernism appropriate for the radio." He came up with the line, "Hotter than a two dollar pistol" -- that seemed to work for everyone!

One of the most beautiful moments of the night happened when our "Sing With Sugarland" winner, fresh from Chicago, stepped onstage to sing with Jennifer and Kristian. Not only was Krissi there, but 11 of her friends and family also made the venture. Krissi told her story about how her band used to sing "Baby Girl" at every show and how her parents, who recently passed, never missed a show. This was the first time she had performed "Baby Girl" in public since their passing. Thank you, Krissi, for sharing your story and for making "Baby Girl" have even more meaning for us.

Every little piece of last night was all wrapped up in a perfect hometown package. We couldnt have asked for anything more, Valdosta! Thank you for your support and for keeping the energy soaring! Well be back as soon as we can.

From
Sat, 28 Jul 2012 19:21:00 -0700 Your Hands: Tampa, FL July 27

Do we dare tell you just how much fun last night was, Tampa? I think thats a risk were willing to take! Back to the Sunshine State we came, and Florida we want to stay for awhile!

Whenever people have a story to tell at a Sugarland concert, it doesnt us more than a moment to find it in the crowd. Whether its written on a sign or on a t-shirt we will sniff it out! Last night we brought Jessica up on stage to sing "Everyday America" after spotting her parents matching anniversary tees in the crowd. We are so glad you spent your 22nd anniversary with us! Here is a video of the lovely couple that we honored last night.

Were glad that family came and made it into the pit, but were also thrilled that 100 additional people were upgraded from the lawn to the Sugarpit! Never underestimate what can happen when you walk into a Sugarland arena. The extra people up front only made for even bigger and better energy, and what else could we ask for?

During the song "Wide Open" the crowd clapped and danced the entire way through, and when "Tonight" ramped up everyone swayed and held their lights in the air. It was like each and every one of you were on stage with us!

Jennifer loves a good sign, and honorable mentions from last night include the sugar shaker that read "pour some sugar on me" as well as another that illustrated a map of the US with every Sugarland show they had ever witnessed marked off on the board. Love it!

The "Sing With Sugarland" contest always creates one of those special moments on stage, but last night the moment was created between winner, Shelly Starks, and her daughter who was in the crowd cheering her on. Kristian loved the moment they shared, and Jennifer of course did everything she could to suspend that moment in time for mother and daughter. Shellys audition video? We have it right here!

At one point Jennifer commented on all of the requests saying, "We are glad the show is in your hands because we havent been able to perform some of the songs in a while!" And Tampa, were exceptionally glad it was in YOUR hands last night! Thanks for giving us a time well cherish always. You have a special place in our heart!

And now for the setlist...

From
Fri, 27 Jul 2012 19:59:00 -0700 Hands: Bristow, VA July 22

When all those puzzle pieces fit together to make one perfect night, its something you should talk about and shout about from the mountain tops! Last nights show in Bristow, Virginia was one of those nights and we want the world to know!

In a nut shell, Jennifer walked off stage and uttered the words, "fun show, such a fun show, WOW such a fun show!" It was a moment in time that we will hold onto, no doubt.

The crowd was huge, the pit was gigantic, but the energy was even bigger. In the Sugarpit the crowd swayed and danced from the time Jennifer and Kristian walked onstage until the bitter end. So much love for this crowd!

As you know, this tour is called "In Your Hands", but last night proved another meaning behind it all. The most powerful moment of the tour happened last night when Kristian, after sifting through many elaborate signs, found one that said, "I can do sign language for the son ". As soon as he found it, the hunt was on for this girl in the crowd.

After finding Emily Gall and bringing her onstage, she signed the entire song for the audience and the mood shifted dramatically. How incredible this was for Jennifer, Kristian, and all of Bristow to experience. It was deemed, "one of the best moments of the tour!"

Another special moment between the entire arena happened with the "Sing With Sugarland" winner, Savannah Wilson, stepped onstage to sing and Jennifer simultaneously announced that Savannah was four months pregnant. This was the first time her family had heard of the news! They both exuded that special glow and the words to "Baby Girl" became all the more real for everyone.

To all of the many kids and parents sporting their cowboy hats (some of the most weve seen!), the fans holding their handmade signs (loved the silhouette of the pregnant woman), and the crazies dancing the night away (enough said) THANK YOU. We will never forget last night in all of its glory. Take care Bristow, we love you mean it!

From
Sun, 22 Jul 2012 19:51:00 -0700 Your Hands: Harrington, DE July 21

The In Your Hands tour is back in action, and boy did we start out with a bang! It almost took us by surprise that any city could have that much energy in lieu of the weather, but Harrington you sure showed us that rain or shine you were there to have the night of your life!

Remember when "Tonight" played? That song has been one of our favorites to play over the past year, and last nights experience confirmed why we love it! People were chanting during the song and an American flag hovered over all of you creating the most beautiful picture-perfect image.

Before the show even started we had the immense pleasure of meeting the Governor and his family last night and realized just where you all get that welcoming Delaware attitude. What a treat!

The signs were brought back out last night, and oh how weve missed your requests! Jennifer of course chose the brightly colored one that requested "Fly Away". She admitted why this was chosen saying, "Im like a raccoon, Im attracted to shiny things!"

Another song that was chosen from the crowd was one from an earlier CD and Jennifer exclaimed, "Thanks for taking us back in time Delaware!" A few choice honorable mentions should be given to the sign with batteries and another poster announcing that a couple was newlyweds. Were glad you chose a Sugarland concert to help start out your life together!

The "Sing With Sugarland" winner was adorable Katie OBrien, 15, who came on stage wearing a dress spun of In Your Hands colors. Katie may have been 15, but she already knows how to work a crowd! Jennifer asked her, "Katie how old are you, Do you have a boyfriend?, No? Oh- well you have sparkly nails and I like them!" Never quite know what shell say, do we?

Couldnt have had a more perfect night to put us back on the road. Thank you, Delaware, for showing us some love and keeping it real! Well be back one day, Harrington!

From
Sat, 21 Jul 2012 19:52:00 -0700 Rome Crowned "Duets" Champion

Its safe to say Jennifer was a proud stage mama again last night! After weeks of pouring their heart and soul into competing for the "Duets" crown, contestants J Rome and John Glosson did the unthinkable.

Both of Jennifers partners made it to the bottom two of the competition, leaving the vote solely in the hands of America. John Glosson and J Rome were more than capable to take home the crowd, but in the end J Rome was led to victory.

Jennifer tweeted to her fans last night, "Thank You America for voting for J Rome and John! Im so happy you appreciated and voted for their talent! It was a fun night!!! Love!" And a fun night it was!

John Glosson kicked off Jennifers time on stage by spinning the Wicked song "For Good" into a blended masterpiece of Jennifers country twang and his soothing operatic baritone. Their powerhouse voices aside, this song already packs a punch, but their combined talent stirred deep emotions for the crowd and the judges.

Glossons choice of song was moving and it beautifully rivaled his competition, J Rome, who chose to do an upbeat song that gave an optimistic approach to the shows ending. After finishing DeBarges Rhythm of the Night, J Rome commented that, "the finale is a celebration." He spoke to the audience saying, "I want to leave America with all I got."

J Romes decision to mix it up yet again was well received by the other judges. Kelly Clarkson oohed and and aahed over his performance gushing, "I love you. You make me so happy." Although there was no shoe throwing this week, she still made it clear just how intense her feelings are for this singers vocals.

John Legend remarked, "Its crazy every week you do something different." In the eyes of America, J Romes versatility as a performer was certainly part of the reason this amateur is fast on his way to becoming a professional. Legend even admitted in last weeks episode that he would sign J Rome to a record deal.

Although J Rome has been favored to win from the beginning, he hasnt let this celebrity mentality overtake his understanding of the compassion and dedication mentor Jennifer has shown him. "Im crushed", he said of not singing onstage with her again in the future.I did not know the friendship or journey in front of me when I met Jennifer Nettles."

J Rome never take the stage again with Jennifer? "For now you never know," she interjected. With his name now firmly attached to the Hollywood Records roster, that may be the farthest thing from the truth.

We are so very proud to announce the outcome of ABCs first ever "Duets". Congratulations to Team Jennifer and all of those who participated in making the show such a success! Were excited to see what J Rome and John Glosson will do with their newfound success and incredible fan base. Just a reminder to never quit dreamin!

From
Fri, 20 Jul 2012 08:20:00 -0700 Blogs: Now Featuring Courtney From Billings!

Blog by Courtney

This was one of the best concerts of my life! Although we are from Cincinnati, my roommate/best friend Mary and I entered the "Stuck Like Glue" contest from PopCrush where we had to make a two minute video talking about why we are Stuck Like Glue. We WON and received tickets and Meet & Greet passes to the concert in Billings, Montana! I remember it like it was yesterday... It was a Thursday in April, and I was in my last class before the weekend would commence. We broke off into our small groups to work on some lesson plans, and I got my computer out. I logged onto my email to download a document from my friend when I saw the newest message at the top. It read, Sugarland Winner!

Im pretty sure I stopped breathing. I slowly brushed my finger across the mousepad to click the link and my eyes bugged out as I began reading. It read, Hi Courntey! Congratulations, you are our contest winner!... Everything after that was a blur. I read it again. Oh my god, I murmured under my breath. Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod OHMYGOD!!!

My friend Ashleigh glanced in my direction and asked if I was okay. I won the Sugarland contest. My voice was shaking and I could feel tears welling in my eyes. I was trembling with excitement and shock. The entire class was staring at me as I started bouncing in my seat and the tears began to fall. I could not believe it. Its one of those things where you think that no one you know actually wins these things, and here I was: the winner. Is this real life?!

I could no longer hold back as I put my head in my hands and started to sob. We had won round trip airfare, a 2 night hotel stay, dinner for two, two tickets and Meet & Greet passes to the show in Billings, Montana! Meeting Sugarland has been a dream of mine for years and it was finally coming true! I called Mary at work. We screamed and cried over the phone, and then we started counting down to our trip!

We flew into Montana on June 5th and were able to enjoy some of the amazing sights of Billings before the show with my moms friend who lives in town. I had a permanent smile on my face the entire weekend. The day of the concert, we arrived at Rimrock Arena and I was absolutely shaking. We were met by radio personalities from Cat Country 102.9 and we felt like celebrities with our Meet & Greet Stickers!

We enjoyed a free pre-concert from Glen Templeton and filed down with the rest of the lucky Meet & Greet-ers to finally meet Sugarland! I was so excited I could hardly breathe. Jennifer and Kristian walked past us to go to their spot for pictures and I could not believe it was real life! When it was finally our turn, we walked up for our picture and I was totally cheesing. They gave us big, wonderful hugs and we told them about the contest we had won!

Jennifer told us we were, "very pretty girls," and they congratulated us on our big win. We just soaked up the shock of finally meeting two of our idols, smiling the entire time. My heart was so full at that moment, as I achieved one of my lifelong goals and had the opportunity to meet two truly incredible people. Mary and I were the happiest girls in Billings that night! :)

Following the Meet & Greet we got to enjoy an amazing show where we sang our hearts out with our favorite band in the world! They sang two of our favorite songs, "It Happens" and "Every Girl Like Me" and we danced the night away! I never wanted it to end.

I have Sugarland and PopCrush to thank for such an amazing experience in Billings, Montana with my best friend and favorite band! It was the best concert of my life! We cant wait to see you again when you come to Cincinnati on August 3rd. Our contest entry video is here, and I made another video of our trip to meet Sugarland, check it out here! Thank you Sugarland! We love you! :)

Thank you, Courtney, for sharing your Sugarland experience with us. We now love sharing it with others!

From
Tue, 17 Jul 2012 09:50:00 -0700 Sits Down With Good Day LA

The newest reality singing competition "Duets" is wrapping up its first season this upcoming Thursday. Its been a wild ride, but a happy one for Jennifer as both of her partners have made it to the bitter end. This means that in just a matter of days Jennifer could potentially crown either J Rome or John Glosson as the first ever "Duets" champion.

Monday morning, Jennifer sat down with Good Day LA to discuss some of these newest excitements, greatest trepidations and more. According to Jennifer, she "hit the jackpot with these two". As much as we believe that Jennifers raw talent and her experience performing as a duet with Kristian Bush helped get the two amateurs where they are, Jennifer humbly attributes all success to their individual talent.

Early on these two stuck out from the crowd of talented young aspirers, so its no surprise that they made it this far. Both J Rome and John are different in their own unique way, and each have attracted substantial and loyal crowds who follow the show. However, their biggest fan remains their coach and superstar duet partner.

Although Jennifer says she feels like a nervous mom while theyre up there, she also understands that having both her partners in the finale is a "luxury problem". It could have been a situation where she would have needed to favor one or the other, but of course Jennifers heart sees it as "joy multiplied, not divided."

Speaking of a little extra joy in Jennifers life, Good Day LA was particularly engrossed in the news of Jennifers "lovin in the oven". Recently, Jennifer announced that she would be the newest mom on the block, and in this interview they asked her all about how she has been able to juggle everything, how this is going to change the way she approaches song writing and performing, and even what she has been craving as soon as the lunch break rolls around.

Find out all of the answers to these questions and more, including whether women really are smarter than men, in this special interview with Good Day LA!

Los Angeles Local News, Weather, and Traffic

From
Tue, 17 Jul 2012 09:05:00 -0700 Puts Both 'Duets' Partners In Finale

Its the final week for ABCs "Duets" and Jennifer who called herself a "proud stage mama" last night is lucky enough to have both her horses left in the race! Wait, both her dogs still in the fight. However you want to say it is fine with us, it doesnt change how happy we are for Team Jennifer!

The competition originally started with eight talented and driven contestants, but after multiple elimination processes and grueling judging sessions there are only three remaining: John Glosson, J Rome, and Jason Farol, two of which are on Jennifers team in case you didnt get that.

Last night, "Duets" decided to amp it up by handing the mike over to the contestants in solo battles against each other. How did the contestants perform when they stepped out from behind the shadows of the Superstars?

J Rome commanded the stage with Stevie Wonders "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (Im Yours)" and proved he has what it takes to be the "Duets" champion. His duet with Jennifer wasnt too shabby either, as always. They sang the Scripts "Breakeven" and had the audience going nuts towards the close of the song.

This weeks duet between Jennifer and John Glosson took a different turn, but it worked! They decided to really capture the breadth and beauty of Johns voice by singingAndrea Bocelli and Celine Dions "The Prayer". Jennifer even sang a little Italian. You just never know what she may do when she gets on the stage! John later came on to sing his solo "Bless the Broken Road" which seems to always be a crowd pleaser.

Both contestants lit fire to the stage last night, and both proved theyre deserving of the title. So, if you havent voted yet you still have until tonight at 11:59 PM PST to cast your ballot! Last chance to vote is indeed tonight, and your vote could help decide it all for Team Jennifer.

Three ways to make this happen:

Pick up the phone and give it a ring. Whats his next project? Helping Lucy Hale of ABC Familys Pretty Little Liars with none other than writing a song.

Come as a shock to know that the semi-diva punk princess of a teen show is breaking into the country music scene? Hopefully with the help of Kristian and other well-aquainted men and women of the music world, Hale will be able to soften the blow and land gently among some of countrys finest.

In a recent interview with MTV, Hale explained why the fit with Sugarland is seamless."I grew up in Tennessee," Hale explained. "So thats always been my heart and soul. Its hard to come across a true country fan in L.A., but its true that the fans are so loyal, once youre in their circle, youre in for your entire career. It just really speaks to me. Country music has so much soul and is so heartfelt. I think its a perfect fit for me. I think it will surprise people."

And without a doubt this album will shock and surprise! The 23-year-old recently signed with Hollywood Records and head Ken Bunt couldnt be more thrilled to take her to the next step. "Lucys immense talent and passion for music make her a great fit for the label, says Bunt. "We are very excited to be working with her."

This next step has her working not only alongside Kristian, but she will be seeking guidance from music veterans and teaming up with the producers who brought us Adeles mega-hit. What could go wrong?

Were confident that Kristian has what it takes to bring out the country, soulful side that no doubt resides within this young actress. Not to mention, it wouldnt be his first time helping young, aspiring singers! This May, Kristian pulled a girl onstage with him to sing Baby Girl. Side note: This prompted the "Sing With Sugarland" contest! The girl he pulled onstage, Alana Springsteen, is 11-years-old and now working towards landing her first country music record deal.

Itll be interesting to see where these artists end up, but were confident for them with Kristian on their side! If you want to see the complete interview with Lucy Hale about her ambitious climb to country stardom click here.

From
Mon, 09 Jul 2012 13:05:00 -0700, J Rome and John Can't Be Stopped

The new hit show "Duets" has made it to the seventh episode and second live show, and Jennifer has officially secured herself a 50/50 shot at bringing home a win. Both of her partners, J Rome and John Glosson, made it past the most recent elimination process and are holding spots in the final four!

Last nights episode required the competitors to choose songs that would challenge their modern knowledge with the "standards", classic songs that have managed to stand the test of time. How did they do? Heres a little recap of the night.

J Rome first took the stage with an oldie but goodie, "God Bless The Child". Jennifer said she chose this song because she wanted to show that Rome can do more than just jazzy, soulful classics. We all know he can rip apart an Usher song, but Billie Holiday? Now thats impressive.

The Georgia partners, Jennifer and John Glosson, gave the audience a little reminder that the South still has soul. Jennifer chose the song, "Georgia On My Mind" because she knew Ray Charles would be the perfect fit, and Judge Robin Thicke agreed. John Legend, whilst complimenting Georgia pancakes, said this weeks song was the perfect amount of "syrup".

Congratulations, Team Jennifer! If you want to vote for J Rome and John Glosson call the numbers below, go to , or visit the Duets Facebook Page! I remember every second as if it happened yesterday. We made the three-hour drive from my hometown of Winchester, Virginia. None of us knew what to expect going to Merriweather Post Pavilion for the first time.

My sister and I purchased tickets for the Sugar Pit and wanted to be sure we were in line in time to get a good standing spot. So we parked in a distant lot and made a long walk to the gates hours before they opened. A handful of other Sugarfans were already lined up anxiously awaiting those precious gates to open while Little Big Town performed sound check in the background. After what seemed like an eternity, the gates were opened and we quickly made our way to the concrete jungle just in front of the stage.

From there we would stand for the some of the best, most amazing hours of my life. Once Matt Nathanson took the stage, thoughts of our achy legs and obnoxiously drunk crowd behind us quickly dissipated as we listened and rocked to his smooth voice and beautifully composed lyrics. Sugarlands band and Kristian joined him, giving us a taste of things to come. Next, Little Big Town took the stage, taking the crowd from a Little White Church all the way out to the Boondocks. Each member of the band made eye contact with me in the crowd. I felt like I was the only one in the Pavilion and time was standing still. When the end of their set-list came, it quickly snapped me out my little world I was consumed in.

The rest is a blur until the lights went down and Michael Jacksons voice rang through the loud speakers. Screams vibrated through the arena and we all started to sing at the top of our lungs, It dont matter if youre black or white. Cut the music and the lights. Total darkness in an arena packed with screaming fans. I feel the breeze hit me as the curtain drops from the stage. Bright lights and the familiar sound Ive listened to over and over again, Fire like lightning, burning up the night. Smoke horizon, wont give up the fight. Jennifers voice cut through the warm May air. All We Are would open it up.

Jennifer and Kristian danced on the stage as the Incredible Machine heart and wings lit up the background behind them. Ive been to a half a dozen Sugarland concerts, but in the Sugarpit you can almost touch them. Up close and personal with Jennifer and Kristian made the experience one to remember. Their facial expressions, dance moves, and pure energy electrify you more when you see it up close than on a big jumbo-tron screen. It was incredible to see their interaction with each other and even more incredible when one of them would make eye contact with me in the crowd. And just when I thought it couldnt get much better, Matt Nathanson came back out on the stage to perform Run. This was the first time I had heard the song, and I fell in love with it from the beginning.

The chemistry and the blend of Matt and Jens extraordinary voices was magical. Its always a treat when Sugarland covers other artists as well. As "Find the Beat" slowly morphed into a rendition of "Sweet Caroline," I forgot I was at a concert, and felt like I was at a bar singing with a few thousand of my friends. Encores are always fun when covers are added, so when the familiar tune to a certain Madonna song started to play, the crowd went nuts. s like a dream, no end or no beginning Lost in the dream watching Jen sing one of my favorite songs from the 80s, I hear screams behind me and turn to the right side of the stage to see Little Big Town coming to join in the fun. Let the choir sing!

Finally, with a group of people in the news preaching about the impending end of the world, it was fitting and comical the final song of the night (with help from LBT and Matt) was the End of the World As We Know It. Watching all of my favorite singers on stage dancing and singing one of R.E.M.s top hits was a memory I will never forget. I wanted to live in that moment forever, but just like the songs message for the world, the concert came to an end. The singers ran off the stage, the overhead lights turned back on and we embarked on the long trek to our cars and back home to Virginia. It was a day I will never forget. Sugarland always puts on a great show, but that May night in Columbia wasnt just a show, it was an experience. I danced in the pit with new Sugarfriends and saw a powerful performance just feet away on stage. That is why May 22, 2011 will remain as one of the best days of my life.

Thank you, Ashley, for sharing your story with us! Only one more left, Sugarfans so stay tuned!

From
Thu, 05 Jul 2012 12:35:00 -0700 Trouble for Jennifer on Duets

With only five contestants left on ABCs "Duets", we are proud to announce that two of them are on Jennifers team! J Rome and John Glosson both managed to escape being sent home as well as prove to America last night that they deserve to stay around for a little while longer... maybe even four weeks longer!

As most of you may know by now, Jennifer is a judge as well as performer on this new hit show. Last night the audience was able to enjoy a healthy double dose of Jennifer as she sang her heart out with both partners in an episode that solely featured hits from the 2000s.

John Glosson and Jennifer opened up the first of the live shows by serenading the audience with a sweet, "syrupy" version of Josh Grobans When You Say You Love Me. How did he measure up compared to his performance last week? Kelly Clarkson praised their performance saying, "Im not shocked you did amazing just then... It was beautiful."

Judge Robin Thicke had a different approach on the entire performance criticizing it as being illegal. Of course, this was all in jest as he said they were technically singing as a trio now. What did he mean by this? Well let you browse through recent news about Jennifer and figure that one out for yourself!

The second time Jennifer took the stage during last nights performances was to accompany YouTube sensation J Rome. For the past five weeks he has remained on top of the board, and Jennifers plan to keep him there is to just have him be himself. Together they concocted a new version of Usher and David Guettas "Without You". Kelly threw her shoe in an uproar about his talent, andRobin complimented Jennifers "drop it like its hot" moves. Both nights were intimate gatherings peppered with lots of laughter, as all four men cracked wise, delivered well-honed one-liners, and told the (often hilarious) stories behind their songs before performing them live.

The sheer volume of hit songs on the stage was humbling. Bill Anderson alone has spent nearly 50 years in the business, a career spanning from his first No. 1 for Ray Price in 1958 to such recent massive hits as Brad Paisleys Whiskey Lullaby and George Straits Give It Away. He delivered acoustic versions of both favorites in his sage, intelligent voice, defusing the sadness of the lyrics with perfect comic timing in between tunes. (Whats the difference between a songwriter and a large pizza? The pizza can feed a family of four.) If you ever have a chance to sit at Andersons feet and listen, dont pass it up. The man is an icon.

On the opposite side of the stage, host Bob DiPiero lent his gruff, matter-of-fact voice to the blockbusters hes written: Montgomery Gentrys which had the L.A. audience joyfully contributing the Tim McGraws Southern Voice, where his use of led to a blossoming bromance with Kristian; and George Straits Blue Clear Sky, explaining to the audience that the backwards phrasing in the title (as opposed to clear blue) was inspired byForrest Gump, and he was unwilling to change it... even when Strait asked him to. The Church on Cumberland Road led things off in L.A., and returned in Phoenix by request, the second performance featuring a long and very impressive piano solo from Brandon Bush, who sat in with the men on keyboards both nights.

Frequent Sugarland collaborator Bobby Pinson likes to describe himself as Chris fromFamily Guy, and he provided much of the evenings comic relief, whether pausing for a water break at the end of his own t Ask Me How I Know, or rewriting the words to three of the songs he co-wrote with Jennifer and Kristian All I Want To Do, Already Gone, and It Happens into what can only be called the Poop Remix. (Dont ask for specifics. You kinda had to be there.) He also showcased several of the massive Toby Keith tracks he had a hand in, from Made in America to Beers Ago.

As Kristian tweeted after the first show, Hits to the left of me, hits to the right... He supported his fellow performers on mandolin throughout each night, and when it came to his turn in each round, Mr. Bush decided bring the crowd both backwards and forwards on his own personal songwriting timeline. On several occasions, he chose to demonstrate the way his old Billy Pilgrim material has influenced and shaped the songs hes written with Sugarland over the years. In L.A., I Wont Tell bled into These Are the Days, and in Phoenix, he performed the wonderful Insomniac/Incredible Machine mashup he debuted during his 2010 Thanksgiving show at Eddies Attic in Decatur.

He also tried out some new original material, like You Cant Stop The Sun From Going Down, a song about lifes inevitabilities that he with his 7 year old daughter Camille all three other men on stage immediately tried to sign her to a publishing deal and ll Never Run Out of Ways, written with his old friend Ellis Paul. In L.A., Kristian had the crowd and himself grooving to a new tune called re Gonna Get Yours, about the way karma comes back around. That song made me want to dance! he said, then joked, I cant dance. To his left, Bill Anderson shot back, No, but you sure can write songs.

Of course, there were Sugarland songs in both sets: Kristian performed Stand Up in Phoenix (garnering a tiny standing ovation from the front row), and Baby Girl made back-to-back appearances. We learned that Kristians original suggestion for that songs second line was Dont know / Cant see em / Except for the ones in the wax museum, and everyone more or less agreed that it was a good thing Jennifer talked him out of that lyric; he also reshaped the way the song can be sung, performing it in a slow, sad singer-songwriter style. s hard when youre starting out as an artist to get your parents to believe youre doing anything worthwhile, he explained of the mood change, and in that light, the melancholy mood fit perfectly. At the end of the song in Phoenix, he paused for a moment and said, Jennifer and I wrote this about the third month of knowing each other, and then shook his head. Anything is possible, he concluded.

All in all, it was two extraordinarily special nights of music, with the raucous bar crowd at the House of Blues contrasting perfectly with the sophisticated theater patrons who attended in Phoenix. Both audiences were treated to a once-in-a lifetime chance to hear the songs they love sung by the people who created them, and hear them the way they likely emerged from each songwriter: just an acoustic guitar, an idea, and a voice. The CMA Songwriters Series continues across the country throughout the year; if it comes to your town, youre gonna want to make the trip.

Did you join us for either of these dates? Talk about your experience in the comments! Couldnt make it? Stay tuned well try and have some audio of Kristians performance for you in the coming days. But this was one of the few shows where I stayed clear of reviews and pictures. I stayed away from the fan club forums. I wanted to experience everything naturally. My friends and I started the day out early by going to the preshow party at the Hard Rock Caf, which was directly across from the Target Center. It was fun to be around a bunch of other Sugarland fans, and the food was delicious! Then it came time to play some Sugarland trivia. I was a little rusty but did pretty well! Then it was off to get in line for the Sugarpit.

As the time for doors were to open drew near, we were handed one of the LOVE flags and were told it would be used for a special moment during the show. FUN! The evening began with Matt Nathanson. Thanks to Sugarland performing Come on Get Higher in their shows past, I was familiar with Matts music. Who should come out to sing Come on Get Higher but Kristian himself! The crowd went nuts as they sang along!Little Big Town was a perfect choice to join Sugarland on this tour. I unfortunately missed the tour when they opened for them a few years ago, so this was perfect.

When I heard the opening notes to All We Are, I knew I was in for one heck of a show. The Incredible Machine album has become one of my all time favorites and to kick off the show with one of my favorite tracks really got me pumped for what else was to come.

Some of my favorite parts of any Sugarland show are Jennifers facial expressions. Shes so animated and I love trying to capture them all in pictures. My friend and I moved further back in the Sugarpit to experience the full stage show. Being that the tour was called The Incredible Machine tour, I knew they would have to perform the title track which is my absolute favorite from the album. I freaked when they started playing it. Not too many people around me were singing the words, but I was in my own little word singing along. "CALLIN! CALLIN!"

Another favorite moment was hearing Baby Girl done campfire style. Jennifer even took a girls cell phone and left a message for the girls mom! I loved getting to see many of the songs off of Incredible Machine come to life live. The album is perfect for arenas!! As the show was nearing its end, we still didnt get use of our LOVE flags. That is until Stand Up. After Jennifer spray painted her flag, everyone in the pit began waving theirs. Sugarland brought out Little Big Town to sing the song. They said that they would be recording the performance and proceeds from the sale of it would go to help those affected by the tornadoes in Alabama. It was an honor to be a part of that moment.

Little Big Town left the stage for a brief moment, only to come back out for the encore song of Like a Prayer. It was a fun song to end the show with, but having the show come to end was so sad. The show seemed to fly by so fast, but all great shows do. As I walked out of the arena I was glad I didnt read reviews. I would have hated knowing all the little surprises sprinkled throughout the show!

Thank you, Shedana, for sharing your story! We always love hearing from a fan!

From
Wed, 27 Jun 2012 07:35:00 -0700 Your Hands: Tinley Park, IL June 23

Tinley Park, what a show! We had high expectations for Chicago, and you certainly didnt disappoint! Sometimes we have to nudge the crowd a little, but you all got us dancing before we even walked out onstage. Our question is, when can we come back?!

We were excited about last night, but some people proved to be just as pumped about a Sugarland show in Chicago. Angel Cedillo missed his prom just to make it out! Although you were all not ready for someone else to help entertain, Jennifer still welcomed him graciously and said, "SO what if he missed his prom 5 years ago. He just went back to school and graduated! Good for him."

It wasnt only Angel that skipped out on something big to make it out to the concert. Another fan had her sign stand out in the crowd that read, "I missed my family reunion for this". Jennifer laughed and joked asking, "Are you sad about this?" So a big thanks goes out to those that made the extra effort to make it out, even if you used us as an excuse!

You really were full of surprises, Chicago! We even had a someone ask Jennifer and Kristian to play pin the tail on the donkey by way of a sign they made. Thought we wouldnt?! When Kristian pinned it to a fans rear, they kept it on the rest of the night! You are a different breed, sugarfans, and we absolutely love it!

One of the greatest moments of every show is when were able to bring someone from the crowd onstage. Last night we had that opportunity again, but it was in the most surprising way. The "Sing With Sugarland" contest winner called into the radio thinking she was just winning tickets to the show. Low and behold, she ended up hopping onstage with us to sing "Baby Girl"! Would you be nervous? We would be! However, Jenny took the stage like it was hers and sang her heart out. It was incredible!

Another incredible part of the show was all of the signs. It was such a humbling experience to see everyone with their "Little Miss Project" posters decked out in the neon colors of the show. Jennifer scoured the crowd looking for one specifically until she finally called out, "I cant find the one Im looking for. This is what happens when you get pregnant!" The crowd loved her comment and roared with applause.

Every part of last night was unforgettable, and we couldnt thank you more for such a special time in Chicago! We wont forget you, Tinley Park!

From
Sun, 24 Jun 2012 08:40:00 -0700 Your Hands: Cadott, WI June 22

How should we say this? Wisconsin thank you for putting our tour truly in YOUR hands! The energy last night was from another world, and the fever has spread like a contagious disease. Thank you, Cadott, for reminding us why we do this!

We commenced the show with "Wide Open", and while walking down the catwalk we really did split the crowd wide open! However, it wasnt until "Stuck Like Glue" that we felt the energy you all were bringin to the table. After the jivin, jiggin, and jumpin happened during this song we decided you all wouldnt need too much convincing to have a good time!

It wouldnt have been a show in Wisconsin without Kristian doing something crazy and you guys proving you could party. During one of our favorites, "Everyday America" Jennifer shooed Kristian into the crowd to bring back someone who "wasnt drunk". It was a long day, we understand! After sweet Rachel was dragged onstage Jennifer turned to crowd and laughed saying, "I dont think you qualify for the non-drunk part!"

Like all of our shows, there was a time when the crowd settled down and chose to be captivated by the music. Last night was one of the most powerful examples of this, even though the arena was one of the largest weve visited. When we sang "Stay", Jennifer turned to the crowd and people began tearing up, hugging, and holding hands. We love to see that our music has this effect on people and that it can bring people from all over together in one moment, one night.

Kristian felt the sincerity of the moment, but he also felt the sincerity of the energy in the room. Although he had that huge stage to run around on, he seemed to like the end of the catwalk. Taking to the lively crowd, Kristian walked to the end of the stage after finishing "Incredible Machine", rolled up his sleeves, and shredded his guitar. Now, Cadott, who was actually more fired up last night? We blame you!

Not only was there drinking and dancing all day long, but a few other acts helped us get the crowd rowdy, and Jennifer made a point to appreciate their appearances at the Country Fest. "This was fun for us as an artist to play festival shows because we never get to see other artists. Thanks so much for letting us share this day full of music with you!" And we mean it, Cadott. Thanks for sharing your love for music, laughter, and how to be an all around good-time-Charlie with us! We will never forget Wisconsin.

From
Sat, 23 Jun 2012 08:10:00 -0700 Your Hands: Oshkosh, WI June 21

Oh, Oshkosh though it was already your third night at the Country USA Music Fest, it felt like you were partying like the first! We saw everything from penniless cowgirls to Kristian in a pink tank top. Really though, what do they feed you in Wisconsin?

The night began with special sets from a few of our friends. We owe a huge thanks toTodd Sansom, Jason Thomas, Jerrod Niemann, and Phil Vassar who came out and helped us put on the show and who also got yall insanely fired up before we even came on!

Except, were not exactly sure who was rowdier Was it you all or was it Jennifer and Kristian? At one point Kristian took off like a bullet through the crowd, guitar held high above his head, with Jennifer egging him on chanting, "keep on going until you bring me back some cheese curds!" Jennifer was clearly fascinated with the food in Oshkosh as she told Abbey, 15, who helped them sing "Everyday America", "Wow they grow them tall in the midwest! Its because shes corn-fed!"

The lights from the ferris wheels and festival lights helped illuminate your faces, and the screams from everyone riding them throughout the night kept spirits higher than ever. Jennifer mentioned backstage how many people may,"lose their cookies, but still make room for a Sugarland show". For those of you who did, were so very glad you still came!

One of the most hilarious moments happened when Kristian donned a pink tank top thrown on stage that read, "Oshkosh, a quiet little drinking town with a flying problem". While showing off his muscles for the crowd, Jennifer replied saying "I dont think they are like that because they are not quiet!"

All laughs and jokes aside, last night was still filled with special and intimate moments between Jennifer, Kristian, and the audience. Jennifer connected with a few members standing in front and sang to them as if it was only the two of them in a crowd of people. This closeness was shared between audience members as well as they grabbed ahold of each other and swayed back and forth during "Stay".

The night ended on another high note as they ramped up "Find the Beat Again" and everyone danced together, clapped together, and sang at the top of their lungs together. Jennifer nudged the crowd one more time and laughed saying,"Thank you for the day of good music. How are all of the partying people doing in the back? I know youre partying because youre the people closest to the beer stands!"

If thats not enough to make you want to see a show in Oshkosh, were not sure what to tell you! Thanks again Oshkosh, and enjoy your last two days of complete country music fever!

From
Thu, 21 Jun 2012 22:35:00 -0700 Holds Top Spots on Duets

If you havent started watching the show Duets yet, but you call yourself a Sugarland fan then you may have your wires crossed! Jennifer and her two chosen contestants, R&B entertainer J.Rome and hometown singer John Glosson, have stepped onto the stage alongside Jennifer for the past five weeks and blown their competiton to shreds.

Of the two contestants, J.Rome specifically has created exceptional sound waves during the show as he holds on tight to the top of the leader board for the fifth consecutive week. This past episode was movie themed, and J.Rome decided he would take on one of the greatest love songs of all time, Whitney Houstons "I Will Always Love You" made famous by way of theBodyguard soundtrack.

However it wasnt just the crowd pleaser, J. Rome, that made stirs. Glosson also took on another female powerhouse song and made it his own. Celine Dions "My Heart Will Go On" was completely embodied by Glossons smooth and strong voice. This was a leap for him as he has only performed male artist songs thus far, Rascal Flatts and Joshua Grobin, but it seemed to be a solid decision as it landed him in the top two joining fellow Nettles partner J. Rome.

These two contestants created shining moments in the show, but the magic of Duets wouldnt have been quite as brilliant without the help of Jennifer, and her performances didnt go unnoticed. The other judges applauded Jennifer for working just as hard as those competing. Kelly Clarkson specifically mentioned how impressed she was with her high notes on the Celine Dion cover. Of course, Jennifer just humbly replied, "I just shine a flashlight".

So Jennifer and her talented competitors are taking the lead, but will they be able to stay on top? Find out next week as Duets resumes to its normal time on Thursday at 8/7c on ABC.

From
Thu, 21 Jun 2012 11:35:00 -0700 Blogs: Now Featuring Minneapolis!

Well heres what its all about...

We love to hear about each and every fans experience from our shows all over the nation, and now we want to share them right here on! In retrospect, it was probably the darkest year of my life. Every day felt like a battle. Sugarlands music was the only thing that got me through, the only thing that helped me win the battle. In the midst of my personal turmoil, THE INCREDIBLE MACHINE came out. It was an album that, in many ways, saved me. It brought me joy. It reminded me that I am human, that I deserve more, that I should "stand up" and fight, that "itll be alright again".

Jennifer and Kristian helped me to be optimistic and joyful in the face of my trials and tribulations. Their music told my story, and even as sad as my story sometimes seemed, they managed to put a positive spin on it. They gave me reason to dance and jump with joy. They got me through. Thus, it was only natural for me to want to see them in concert. But this seemed unlikely. We were struggling financially, and I wasnt sure if we would get the money together in time. But I kept my hopes up, and two days before the concert, we had enough money for tickets. Thankfully, I was able to find pretty great seats online: row 11 on the left side of the stage. I was thrilled!

I spent the whole day of the concert in preparation. I spent hours making a sign. You see, I wasnt just going to this concert to enjoy their music, I had a mission. Earlier that year, I choreographed a dance to "Stuck Like Glue", and with the help of a friend, I recorded a video of it and posted it on YouTube (you can find ithere). It is my dream to perform this dance onstage during one of Jennifer and Kristians concerts. I was unsure if they had even seen the video, but it was my goal to get called up onstage. Thus, I made a neon green sign reading "I made a dance to Stuck Like Glue. Call me up onstage." I also tweeted them about a million times before the concert and encouraged friends to do the same.

Upon arriving at PNC, I noticed the seats were even closer than I thought. Surely theyd see the sign! Matt Nathanson came out onstage and performed an excellent set. Then, Little Big Town also came out and did a wonderful job. During their set, I was one of the few people up front standing, dancing, singing, and clapping along. I could tell that the other concert attendees were annoyed that I was standing and they werent, but I was there to have a good time and wasnt about to let them stop me. Plus, the members of Little Big Town seemed to appreciate my enthusiasm. Finally, it was almost time for Jennifer and Kristian to take the stage. I could hardly wait.

I sat between the sets, but as soon as "Black and White" began to play, I jumped to my feet. Then, Sugarland took the stage and "All We Are" began, sending my heart pounding. "Stuck Like Glue" followed, and I hadnt yet held up my sign, but I thought maybe they would still call me up later in the show. And they did take notice of me. During "Settlin", Jennifer looked right into my eyes and sang "I aint settlin for anything less than everything". It was an incredible feeling. It was as though she was speaking the lyrics right to me, encouraging me to follow my dreams. When Jennifer took her first break to speak to the audience, I held my sign up high in the air. Kristian noticed it and nudged Jennifer to look at it (I was one of the only people in the venue with a sign). Jennifer glanced at it and pointed at me. I couldnt believe they took notice of me. I was thrilled.

They didnt call me up onstage, but I still loved the rest of the concert. I danced like crazy the whole night. The encore was especially memorable. After a moving performance of "Stand Up" and a fun turn at Madonnas "Like a Prayer", Jennifer prompted Little Big Town to stay up onstage and Matt Nathanson to come back out. She noted that according to some misguided radio personality, the world was supposed to end at sundown that day, but it in fact did not. (In her words, "the spaceship was supposed to land right on top of this venue and zap us all up"). In honor of the predicted rapture, Sugarland, Little Big Town, and Matt Nathanson ended the show with a cover of R.E.Ms "Its the End of the World (As We Know It)".

My experience was incredible. Every Sugarland concert I attend is always incredible. I always anxiously wait for Jennifer and Kristian to take the stage, to the point where my heart starts pounding and I even shake with excitement a bit as it gets closer to showtime. But once that curtain drops, and Im seeing them live and in the flesh, singing along with them, it never feels like "Oh, wow, I cant believe Im seeing this huge celebrity". Instead, it feels like Im finally getting to hang out with my old friends again. I feel safe there with them, authentic, myself, more so than I feel most other places. Their songs have shown me that they understand me in a way others might not, and maybe, the fact that their music is so relatable to me, shows that I understand them a little as well. I feel connected with them, comfortable, willing to put my whole self out there dancing and singing along in the audience (despite what the strangers around me might think) because they are on that stage giving their whole selves to us: musically, physically, emotionally, and vocally. Although, I have never actually shared a conversation with Jennifer and Kristian (I wish!), I feel as though we have communicated. They share their stories with me in their songs, and I reply affirmatively, totally understanding where theyre coming from. They inspire me and empower me and advise me, and I respond in a number of ways, I suppose.

I thank them by telling the world how great these people are when I wear my Sugarland shirts and wristband. I respond creatively by making dances or using their lyrics as inspiration. And in a way, it is like a conversation. And this conversation never becomes more real than it does live in concert, when you are right there, sharing the lyrics with them in person. I guess thats why I value their concerts so much. I get to spend time with these people who have given me a sense of solace that few others can give me. I get to feel comfortable being totally myself, totally wide open. And although Sugarland has yet to call me up onstage to do my dance, I still have hope. Hope that I will one day, for a brief moment, share a stage with them and get to be a part of the magic they create, the impact they have. I suppose part of the reason I want to do my dance on their stage is because it will give me an opportunity to respond to them and give back to them in a small way, to thank them for their creativity with my own creativity. To show how they have brought so much joy to my life. To maybe, hopefully, give them a little bit of the happiness theyve given me. And, of course, to get to meet them. Because that would be awesome. And as Ive been shown time and time again, dreams do come true in Sugarland.

Thank you, John, for your story! The gorgeous Meadowbrook U.S. Cellular Pavilion had blissful traces of summer camp with the trees, bonfires and smores, but when the band started up with "Tonight" the clapping and singing along made us feel right at home!

We had some fabulous Sugarfans come out to the show with their bubbles and handmade signs. Some of our favorite requests included the "What Id Give to Give Jennifer Flowers" sign, and a poster with about 20 songs listed on it. Jennifer responded to this one by saying, "Wow! You have a whole list of songs on your poster, surely we will sing one of them," and that we did!

The sign that got the most attention from us was a recycled poster in the dead middle of the audience. Jennifer pointed it out for the crowd and jeered, "Hold it up because its hysterical." The song mistakenly requested "Red Solo Cup", but Jennifer laughed saying, "Red Solo Cup is a good song, but I think you recycled your sign from a Toby Keith concert!" Hey, well give you an A for effort anyways!

Gilfords "Sing with Sugarland" winner was chosen from a plethora of contestants via the website entry. Sarah Peck first began by warming up a little behind stage and then took to warming up the crowd. Once things got going Jennifer and Sarah were rocking out their rendition of "Baby Girl" for the sold out arena. It was another one of those great moments for Jennifer, Kristian, and a dedicated fan!

Yet another of these special moments came when a family in the crowd held up a sign asking Jennifer to sing "What Id Give" - a popular request for the night! She sang the song for everyone but dedicated it to the family with the sign that had a husband and wife married 16 years and three beautiful children. Jennifer exclaimed that the reason the sign was so great came from all those science fairs theyd been dragged to!

Its no secret we have a soft spot for families, and with that wed like to once again wish a Happy Fathers Day to all of the "daddies, baby daddies, and Sugadaddies!" as Jennifer said last night! We hope you and everyone else had the same perfect night of memories that we did! Thank you, Gilford!

From
Sat, 16 Jun 2012 20:10:00 -0700 Your Hands: Atlantic City, NJ June 15

Atlantic City, somehow we knew you wouldnt disappoint! The signs, the Sugarpit, the energy oh my! In a practically brand spanking new venue, Revel Ovation Hall, I think its safe to say we left our hand prints there forever. Or did we just leave a 400 foot sign with hand prints? Yep, you heard it right! Not only did Atlantic City bring crazy spunk, but the signs may have been the most impressive weve seen yet!

A couple of signs specifically caught our attention. One sign requested "Irreplaceable", and the other Jennifer said was "so gigantron and awesome that they have to play it!" Note to future Sugarland concert goers: If you make your sign shiny with blinking lights it WILL get noticed!

One of the most anticipated turn of events for the night had to have been when J.Rome from Duets took to the stage, creating an enormous uproar across the arena. He even had signs for him in the audience! This was a hometown show for J.Rome which made the moments he and Jennifer shared on stage all the more magical! Their movements on stage were so in sync, and their overall presence was moving. They shared the song "Tonight" together and now it may never be the same!

Duets are kind of our thing, and it was no exception when the incredible Ayla from radio station WPUR was whisked on stage to sing "Baby Girl"! Her friends were among the ones holding signs in the Sugarpit, but their signs were all encouraging notes for their friend! What a fun moment that was for everyone!

Another song that got the crowd dancing and glowing was "Find the Beat Again". When we say that people were kickin off their shoes and dancing, thats not just an expression! This song actually had our friends in the Sugarpit holding their shoes in the air while swinging, twirling, and jiving.

Jennifer fired up the crowd once more during the encore by putting on a pink sparkly cowboy hat and tipping it to the audience. Of course we chose none other than Bruce Springsteens "Atlantic City" as the beginning to the encore. Wait, you all know that song?!

Thanks again for a night that will live in our hearts forever, Atlantic City! You are so precious to us!

From
Fri, 15 Jun 2012 21:10:00 -0700 Opens Up & Ladies' Home Journal Gives Away

We always love getting an opportunity to step inside the wonderful mind of Jennifer, and in one of her recent interviews with Ladies Home Journal they did just that! This interview may help satiate your feelings for a moment...

Speaking of satiation, according to her interview Jennifers guiltiest pleasure is a little sweetsmoky taste of back home in Nashville, TN called Piggy Popcorn and Piggy Pecans from the Loveless Cafe. Jennifer admits to LHJ, "Honey, if you ever want something thats Southern, thats Southern." Bet she wishes her chef on the road could make that!

Chef on the road you may ask? Oh yeah, she also told told Home Journal that they always have a yoga instructor and a cook with them while traveling. "Not only is it good for morale, its good for our health. In the past we used to eat at whatever venue we were playing. Wed consume a lot of meat on a stick," Jennifer added.

And as always, she left them with a few words of wisdom in explaining the philosophy she lives by, "Be grateful---and be your best self." However, those words arent all she left!

Before Jennifer exited the Ladies Home Journal offices she signed three copies of their most recent album The Incredible Machine. Its always fun when the crowd gets so into it, and boy were each and everyone of you! The Sugarpit was rocking from the moment you all walked in with your neon "In Your Hands" themed outfits and crazy number of signs. Our band seemed to get the memo that people were dressing up for this show because they were all sporting their finest ties. Only the best for you, Albany!

Nicole Dorey, 15, was one of the first brave souls to grace the stage with us. We brought her on stage during "Everyday America" while her friends and family screamed and cheered her on from the crowd. When the show was over, Nicole was taken backstage for a surprise interview with Kristian how awesome is that?! Nicole and friends told Kristian that, "they have the best memories from the show and they will last a lifetime!" After all, isnt that what this In Your Hands tour is about?

The outrageous and intricate signs were one of the most memorable parts of the show. Some honorable mentions included a feather and winged sign that flew when Kristian grabbed hold of it, and a laminated peace sign that Jennifer pointed out specifically."Who made this sign? You have to be a teacher?! What do you teach?" she screamed out to the crowd. Turns out the sign was actually made by a third grade teacher. Later on the two shared a moment that only Jennifer can have with a single audience member in a packed theatre.

Another special moment in the night was brought to you by Sugarland but created by the audience. During the song "Tonight" the audience swayed back and forth together embracing the meaning behind the melody. It was moments like this that will make last night unforgettable for everyone!

Our "Sing with Sugarland" winner from radio station WGNA, Courtney ODell, may have been a newbie when it came to singing with Sugarland, but shes no stranger to the Times Union Stage! Courtney sang in the arena in the past, but never to a crowd this rambunctious and large. However, that didnt keep the smile from her face beginning to end during their rendition of "Baby Girl"!

This particular song kept another smiling as well. Earlier in the night Jennifer mentioned a written sign that told the story of a woman adopting her own baby girl from Africa TOMORROW. She found the woman in the crowd and asked her the name and age of the soon-to-be adopted girl. The mother responded that her name was Grace and she was 6 months and several days old. When "Baby Girl" started up, Jennifer dedicated the song to her and the precious new baby! The crowd, of course, beamed with happiness.

Jennifer ended the spectacular night by sincerely turning to the crowd and saying, "We appreciate you guys and will always remember you, will you remember us?" then wrapped up the show with "Sugarland" as the encore.

Thank you again, Albany! We hope to be back one day! We will remember you, will you remember us?

From
Thu, 14 Jun 2012 20:20:00 -0700 Blogs: Now Featuring Holmdel!

Well heres what its all about

We love to hear about each and every fans experience from our shows all over the nation, and now we want to share them right here on! It was by far the most incredible sugar-experience ever. One of those nights that changes your life. I almost have trouble putting it into words, but here goes nothing!

Months before the show, my friend Jessica and I were determined to help make this the biggest LMP LIVE yet! We created over 500 pre-made signs with the lyrics on them to pass out the day of the show. The night before Jessica (sugarfan86), Jessica (jsteam3988), and I got together to create a few more banners for our tailgate the next morning. We even had Jennifer Nettles Impossible Pie! Once we finished the banners for our table and our personal signs for the LMP LIVE we went out and painted my car for the show. We left bright and early determined to be the first ones there again.

When we got there, Holly and Erika were already there and the gates were open so we thought no big deal! We pulled in at 8:30am and one of the security guards told us that we couldnt be in the lot that early so we got back in the car and headed over to the hotel. We headed back to DTE about 1:30 and were able to set up. We had my sugarland beer pong table with the LMP LIVE banner flying proudly as well as our newly crafted LOVE flag blowing in the wind. Shortly after that we were joined by the rest of the gang! Karen and Tim, Maria, Erica, Sarah, Stephanie, and Amy! So awesome to hang out with old sugarfriends and meet new ones!

While waiting in the Sugarpass line, Brandon and Annie came out and said hello! Super cool I was able to have them sign my LOVE flag! Despite a little confusion we were all let into the venue and informed it would be the smallest pit on the tour which was awesome. Once inside Jess, Jess and I were on a mission....operation LMP LIVE! We hit everyone as they entered the pit and took signs up to the pavilion. They took a ton of our signs and passed them out. We had over 500 made and they were ALL given out! I was amazed! Then it was time to line up for the meet and greet. I was getting nervous to meet Jennifer and Kristian. So much in my life had changed since the last time I saw them. I still feel like it was their music and the people brought into my life because of their music that helped me through it all.

I had the LMP LIVE banner that we made and had everyone sign it to give to Sugarland. They let the line enter, and I started getting excited! After a few minutes and a few instructions from Yoda, my favorite...if you have a beer please set it down BEFORE you meet Jennifer and Kristian... priceless. Then J&K walked out and I couldnt help but smile. Seeing sugarfriends meet them was amazing! Yoda was awesome again and let me go last to deliver the banner to them. I had no idea what I was going to say and just let myself be in the moment. I walked up to them and we introduced ourselves. Jenn asked me what was in my hand so I unfolded it and told them since we took the LMP LIVE for the first time in Grand Rapids, and it was my mission for this return show to be even bigger. We wanted them to have something to remember it by.

Jennifer and Kristian started reading it and appeared to have wet eyes. Kristians response was "you dont know what this means to us." I looked him in the eye and said, "I cant even begin to put into words what you guys and your music mean to me." He gave me a big bear hug and said that its ok to cry. I turned to Jennifer and said, "There are no words that can describe how much your music has helped me. Thank you doesnt seem like nearly enough, but thank you." I told them if all goes planned they may see the biggest LMP LIVE tonight, and they said couldnt wait. That experience blew me out of the water! Then it was time to go back to the pit where I ran into a friend who asked about meet and greet. I couldnt even get the whole story out without crying!

Jennifer & Kristian were on fire the entire show! Best show Ive ever been to! Their interaction with each other was amazing and they sounded phenomenal. As the set list drew closer to "Little Miss", I felt myself get nervous. I was hoping that people would hold the signs up, but you never know until it happens. The first note of the song started, and I held up my sign. The spotlight hit Jennifer and she began her walk to the center. As she got closer I looked at Jennifer and Kristian and saw that their eyes were welling up. I was afraid to turn around to look at the pavilion until that point. I turned around and was blown away! The pavilion was covered in white paper signs. I immediately began crying. At one point during the song i locked eyes with jennifer and my sign was flipped to my last one that read "Thank you Jennifer & Kristian." I mouthed, "We did it" and she said, "Yes - I love it!"

I had chills throughout the entire song. At the end Jennifer said it was beautiful, and that it was indeed the biggest that they had seen so far. Again there went the waterworks! The place went nuts! I was so proud and so happy that Erica, the creator of the project, was there with us that night! On the way out, seeing people take their signs with them was awesome. I will NEVER forget that moment. From the morning to the night of July 9th was a day I will always remember. Thank you to Mike for letting me be his guest at the meet and greet. It was incredible. Thank you to Casey for all your help passing out signs. Thank you to EVERY person who participated!! And of course, thank you to Jennifer and Kristian for an incredible night that i will NEVER forget! It was my perfect "Tonight"! View other blogs from Detroit here.

From
Wed, 13 Jun 2012 08:55:00 -0700 Off Record Club: The dB's Like This

From the pen of Kristian Bush

I read about them first in an article where Michael Stipe mentioned that he loved The dBs. I wrote down their name because Id never heard of the band, but it wasnt until I heard "Lonely Is (As Lonely Does)" on the local college radio station that I went digging through the bins at Cats Records and Tapes in downtown Knoxville to find out whatever I could about them. I asked the guy behind the counter, and he just pointed me to a section of the store and said if they had anything it would be over there in the Ts, forthe T in The dBs. This is a good time to ask this question, actually: Are The Cars filed in C or T? Are The dBs in T or D?

Anyway, the album I found was only available on vinyl and was called Like This. I bought it and waited for Mom to come pick me back up at the store because I was 14 and couldnt drive yet.It took me the better part of a week, but I learned every song on that album, minus the guitar solos. (I wasnt that good.) I would come in after school and grab my guitar and move Dads stereo turntable to the ground where I could sit and pick the needle up over and over again to repeat the songs until I got them right. Pretty soon I realized that I couldnt get my guitar to sound the way they sounded on the album, so I went to Pick N Grin, the local music store, and asked them, "Why does it sound that way?" They politely plugged in a chorus pedal in between my guitar and my amplifier. Immediately, I had the sound from "On the Battlefront" -- and, incidentally, from "Purple Rain". I had hit the pop music jackpot. I believe it was on this day that I decided I didnt need to be the fastest, flashiest guitar player on earth to make sounds on an electric that mattered.

I knew nothing about the band other than the fact that R.E.M. thought they were good. Their album was green, and I learned the names of the people who worked on the album from the back cover liner notes: The lead singer and songwriter was named Peter Holsapple. (I learned later about Chris Stamey but his name was not on this album.)

Their melodies were so easy on my ears, the topics of their songs so off-center, and the singers voices were so unique, it all added up to a sound that hinted one part towards pop and another part towards college rock. It was a great combination, and it hit me between the eyes. I still cant believe how tightly those songs are written. The guitar parts, the synths and bass lines -- they are all interlocking.

From the opening track "Love is For Lovers" through to "Lonely Is (As Lonely Does)" into "Amplifier" and "On the Battlefront," this album -- mixed with Van Halens 1984 and the Polices Synchronicity -- formed my idea of how songs are structured.

Things that I learned from this album:

- Songs come in every flavor -- pop, country, alternative -- but its important to give each one a personality.
- A band youve never heard of can be named by a band you have, and it makes it worth tracking backwards. From R.E.M. I found The dBs, and from The dBs, I found Alex Chilton and Big Star. I cannot imagine life without any of these bands.
- Albums need cool album covers and they need to be predominantly governed by color. I still use this today. Our Sugarland albums can sometimes be described as "the blue one" or "the white one" etc... This dBs record will always be "the green one" in my mind.

Favorite Songs:

"Love is For Lovers"
"Lonely Is (As Lonely Does)"
"Amplifier"
"A Spy In The House Of Love"
"On The Battlefront"

Coolest moments on the album:

- The bass part on "Lonely Is (As Lonely Does)" is a perfect counterpoint to the melody. I always wondered which came first. I also love the bridge of that song, and how all the reverb disappears.
- The claps in "Amplifier"; also, the nearly perfect guitar solo.
- The first chorus and the the after-chorus chorus of "Love is For Lovers." Yep, they just kept writing choruses. I totally stole that move!

As the years went by, I tried to follow The dBs, but Like This turned out to be their penultimate album, and by the time I was in college, they had broken up. Still, when I heard a song called "Angels" on Album 88 in Atlanta for the first time, I could have sworn it was them. When the DJ came on, he explained it was from an album called Mavericks that Peter and Chris reunited to cut in 1991. I still have "She Was The One" from that album on my morning coffee playlist -- I listened to it this morning, in fact.

Now we come to the most important part: Knowing all of this about my affection for this band that mysteriously disappeared long ago, you can imagine my excitement today, for today is the day that The dBs release their first album in 30 years. Its called Falling off the Sky, and I cant wait to go to the record store and buy a copy.

In a twist of fate that still has my head spinning, I am proud to say that I co-wrote one of the songs on the album with Peter. It is called "She Wont Drive In The Rain Anymore," and its track 11. I remember writing it and trying not to freak out, because the voice singing on the sofa across from meas we were tossing melodies and lyricsback and forth was a voice I had known since I was 14. I am convinced that the 14 year old me locked away some dBs melody, and served it back to the man who gave it to me in the first place. I am grateful and humbled. And I am sitting in my room totally freaking out that there is about to be a new dBs album and this time, my name is on the liner notes. Dreams do come true!!

Note: You can listen to The dBs Like This album in the player below. My family and I were there visiting some of my other family when I heard the best announcement come over the radio. Matt Nathanson, Little Big Town and SUGARLAND! I called my mom, told her to get that day off from work, and then made a detour to the next United Supermarket to pick up three tickets.

The seats were perfect! They werent front row or even all that close, but it was my first Sugarland Concert and the seats didnt matter. The show was about a month away at this point and I couldnt wait! Finally the day came for my mom and I to make the hour and a half drive back to Lubbock to meet up with my Aunt. Driving up to United Spirit Arena, the stairs were already full of people walking up. We found the closest parking spot, pulled in, and made our way to those same stairs. Holding on to my ticket like it was dear life, we finally made it to the door.

I have been to the United Spirit Arena several times before, but something was different about that night. Walking in I was beyond excited. My mom and Aunt went to find the seats as I waited in line to pick out the best t-shirt among all of the fan gear. The show was getting close to starting, but I wasnt about to get out of that line, I was getting my t-shirt. I picked my favorite one and headed for my seat.

As I said earlier, the seats were perfect! The music cut off and the lights dimmed. I didnt really know that much about Matt Nathanson, but after that night I am a big fan of his. My mom loved that he sang a Journey song for his last song. The stage went dark, we waited a few minutes and then four figures appeared with a red, white and blue background. Little Big Town rocked the stage with "Boondocks" and "Little White Church." Then they slowed it down on "Bring It On Home." They also surprised us with a Lady Gaga cover of "Born This Way." Matt and Little Big Town were awesome, but we were all ready for SUGARLAND!!

The lights dimmed once again, and the excitement rose every second. There was no other feeling like the rush of that night. There were screams and hollars in the dark and then some lights came on. Then there was that wonderful music, followed by Jennifer Nettles amazing voice. The curtain dropped and the stage exploded!! The lights, sounds, the huge round screen in the back and Sugarland in all their glory. I thought my ear-drums were going to burst. I have never experienced anything that loud, but it was well worth it!

I cant recall every song, but "Baby Girl", "Stand up" and "Stay" were incredible to hear in person! I cant even begin to describe the remix of "Everyday America". It was so much fun and Jennifer rocked those songs! After so many amazing songs, screams and unbelievable emotions the end of the show was upon us. For the finale, Matt, Little Big Town and Sugarland all teamed up to cover REMs "Its the End of the World". My mom, aunt and I became die-hard Sugarland fans that night! Thank you to all the amazing people of Sugarland and for one great show. I cant wait til the next!

Thank you, Laura, for sharing your story with us!

From
Wed, 06 Jun 2012 11:50:00 -0700 Joins CMA Songwriters Series in Phoenix and Los Angeles

A great song is more than just an amazing voice. Its as much about the lyrics as it is about the voice that gives the song life. Thats why CMA is showcasing some of Nashvilles greatest songwriting talent in their new CMA Songwriters Series this summer featuring our very own Kristian Bush!

This is Kristians first time as part of the Songwriters Series, but its not his first time working with the other writers. Bill Anderson and Bobby Pinson helped co-write a few of Sugarlands hits. Anderson cowrote the 2009 song "Joey" and Pinson helped write "All I Want To Do," "Want To," "Already Gone," "It Happens," and "Keep You." Anderson and Pinson will be featured as part of the series, along with Kristian and others.

It all starts with a song, Kristian said, "Songwriting has been important to me since I was a kid listening to the radio. Im always overwhelmed by the joy I feel when Im writing, and how humbling it is to see people sing my songs back to me when I play. The CMA has always recognized the song as well as the songwriter and the artist, and I am honored and excited to be playing in the CMA Songwriter Series.

Tickets for both the Tuesday, June 26 Los Angeles Show and the Wednesday, June 27 Phoenix show are on sale now! Visit for additional info.

From
Mon, 04 Jun 2012 13:50:00 -0700 Your Hands: Irvine, CA June 2

What a night, Irvine! So much enthusiasm and so many great signs. They covered the area from the top of the lawn all the way to the front of the Sugarpit! Jennifer pointed out three girls up top with an amazing airbrushed sign that she could read from the stage, as well as a guy named Gary who held up a beautifully printed sign. "Gary, did a lady help you made this?" Jennifer asked, "Those are some pretty good block letters!" Then Jennifer noticed a neon orange sign made by a Sugarpass member that read: "These are the Days to Get Wasted." Jennifer noted that the venue was selling martini glasses so they must be a fancy crowd.

When fans requested "I Like Big Butts," Jennifer said "Well, I do like big butts, and you know Im a rapper in a white girls body! Ill definitely think about it!" Even the band had a request, "Ice Ice Baby." So Jennifer did have a chance to pull out her rapping skills and killer dance moves. Kristian got down on his knees and put his arms in the arm feigning devotion. Everyone got a huge kick out of that!

Next up was "Fly" dedicated to Mitch and Dianne. Jennifer found Dianne in the crowd, but Mitch wasnt sitting with her. When they finally found Mitch, Jennifer asked Dianne if she knew this guy and if he really WAS Mitch. During the song, Jennifer played guitar and Kristian laughed when Jennifer tried to throw her guitar pick to the audience. She was trying to throw it behind her back and it didnt quite work out. "I dont want to throw it like a ninja star," Jennifer told Kristian and he gave her (and the audience) a lesson in expert guitar pick throwing.

Lots of folks brought flowers for Jennifer and she thanked everyone! Then Jennifer chose a sign that read "Garrett Trevino turns 21 and has never been kissed. Please sing "Already Gone" to him." Garrett came up on stage and sat on a stool while Jennifer and Kristian sang. He was really nervous and Kristian wiped his face with a towel and gave him some water. When Jennifer sang the last verse, she had the band keep playing so she and Garrett could dance. They finished the song with a dip and Garrett was thrilled.

Tracy Blanchard was the Sing with Sugarland winner from KFRG. After she sang the first sentence of the song, the crowd began cheering. Kristian and Jennifer were both smiling ear to ear, and during the song confetti was shot up in the air. Tracy and Jennifer had great chemistry and were gesturing and stomping their feet in tune.

So many great stories and memories! Well never forget the fun we had in Irvine and we cant wait to hear YOUR stories from the show. Leave them in the comments!

Catch you at the next stop!

From
Sat, 02 Jun 2012 22:40:00 -0700 Your Hands: Mountain View, CA June 1

It was such a heartfelt show in Mountain View with so many great moments. The crowd was as much a part of the show as the folks on stage, and the Sugarpeeps we did pull on stage had so much going on! Everyone had a joke or a story.

From the minute we started playing "Stuck Like Glue," the crowd was on their feet and they didnt stop all night long. Jessica from San Jose did a great job dancing to "Everyday America." When Jennifer complimented her on her legs, she asked the crowd what they thought and received a HUGE round of applause. Jennifer took time to thank the crowd for being part of the show and for being so into the music and that set off an even MORE cheering.

ThenJennifer asked the crowd if they liked surprises, "I dont like surprises, but Kristian does. Im a Virgo and we dont like anything that has any anticipation!" Mountain View apparently sides with Kristian when it comes to surprises. And the surprise? Kristian gave his guitar to someone in the crowd!

The signs were outrageous! Amazing colors and clever slogans. Jennifer laughed when she saw a huge sign reading "Were zoo keepers. Sh*t happens!" Kristian and Jennifer chose a fan whose sign mentioned his had just graduated from Santa Clara. Jennifer asked him what his major was and he said "computer science." "You better remember this guys face," Jennifer joked, "Hell be tapping into all your stuff. . .credit cards, phone numbers!" She also mentioned that it was a smart crowd because thats what you get in a computer city.

Lindsey Tipton was the Sing with Sugarland winner for the night from radio station KRTY. She was dressed in a fun ruffled dress and cowboy boots and sang most of the song herself. When she finished, her boyfriend handed her flowers. Jennifer said, "You didnt get me flowers!" and he got really embarrassed. Jennifer asked him if the two of them were thinking about getting hitched. And he said they were, but not right now. "Okay," Jennifer said, "Ill pass that along to the leading lady!"

What a great night! It seems like each concert is even better than the last and we cant wait to see what happens at the next stop. We were smiling all night long, Mountain View! We cant wait to see you again and Lindsey, we will be expecting a wedding invitation!

From
Fri, 01 Jun 2012 22:45:00 -0700 Blogs: Now Featuring Lubbock!

Well heres what its all about

We love to hear about each and every fans experience from our shows all over the nation, and now we want to share them right here on! The weather was amazing, if a little cold. Kristian had to bundle up a little, wearing a hat and scarf, but that didnt stop him (or the crowd) from dancing all night. We saw swing, line, and just about every other kind of dancing you can think of in the crowd. The energy last night was amazing even after the sun went down and the temperature started to drop. Chula Vista knew how to heat things up regardless of the weather.

When Kristian picked Mickey Christie out of the crowd and brought him on stage, Jennifer was thrilled. "Im SO glad you picked this guy," she said, "He was swinging his lady and dancing to our music!" Mickey did a great job during "Everyday America" creating a loop and bringing the audience into the song. At the end of the song, Mickey took our bass player Annies hand and started swing dancing. Everyone had a smile on their face!

Kristian chose a ton of sign requests and we saw signs of all kinds, including a few with lyrics written on them. We allowed three Sugarpass members who had been waiting in line since the early afternoon Casey, Dawn, and Molly to choose a song. When Jennifer called them out on stage, they were already up front. "Oh, Sugarpass members! Right up front where they should be!" Jennifer said. Jennifer also gave a shout out to the folks in the crowd who "were not right up front but looked like they were having a great time dancing and singing to every song."

During "Stay," the crowd rumbled with cheers and began singing along with Jennifer so that the echo was huge. It was a beautiful and moving moment.

Our "Sing with Sugarland" winner from radio station KSON was Suzanne Harper. She walked on stage in black sparkly heels and owned the crowd. Jennifer left Suzanne to sing most of "Baby Girl," and when Suzanne improvised "Ill be alright because Im singing with Sugarland tonight," the crowd went crazy! Kristian, Jennifer, and the band were cheering as much as the crowd. Great performance, Suzanne!

Vonda Shepard came out as a special guest during the encore. She sang "Chain of Fools" with Jennifer while Kristian backed them up on guitar. Jennifer and Vonda had amazing energy, and after the song, Jennifer told the crowd how during Sugarlands first tour, Vonda had let them share a bus with her.

Chula Vista was more than pleasant. It was a night well always treasure. See you at the next stop in Irvine!

From
Thu, 31 May 2012 22:40:00 -0700 Show Cancellation
We regret to inform you that our scheduled show for August 26 at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas has been canceled.

Tickets will be refunded to the credit card provided for the original purchase within 7-10 business days. And if you were in the audience last night, you actually got to see them perform live! When Jennifer brought the two contestants out on stage, Kristian showed his support by saying that he was wearing a Team Jennifer undershirt!

Signs with song requests written on them filled the audience. Jennifer commented on the time spent on the signs saying, "Wow lots of people were working hard on these signs thanks for taking the time! Lots of glitter, puffy paint, and time spent making these sings. THANK YOU!"

Sydney Edgecomb was the lucky girl in the crowd to receive a guitar from Kristian. She was absolutely thrilled and promised him that she would learn to play it.

12 year old Cheyenne Chaves won the "Sing with Sugarland" contest with KSNI. She dedicated "Baby Girl" to her cousin Rosie who had died recently and wore her cousins hat on stage. At the end of the performance she received a standing ovation!

Dave Stewart joined us for the encore. Jennifer was so entranced in the music during "Would I Lie to You" that she was strutting all around the stage.

Were you in the crowd with us last night in Santa Barbara? We wanna hear about it! What did we forget to mention that made last night such a memorable experience? Even the lawn was packed and everyone was on their feet all night long. We had a few left over tickets in the Sugarpit, so we upgraded some of the fine folks from the lawn. The crowd was filled with bright colors and cowboy hats.

Some of the signs really caught our eye. Jennifer pointed out a girl in the crowd whose sign said this was her first concert. She was only eight years old. Another sign read: "Jennifer for President!" Jennifer laughed and said, "Maybe president of a wine club!"

Kylie McBride from Arizona was pulled on stage to create a musical loop during "Everyday America." Then J Rome, one of Jennifers contestants on ABCs Duets, joined Jennifer in singing "Tonight" as a duet. During the song, Jennifer suggested they "turn the duet into a choir" and asked everyone to join in.

Everyone was really into the show, and when John took the mic everyone started swaying back and forth. During "Love," Kristian held up a handmade flag with LOVE written on it and joined the crowd in swaying to the beat.

Sing with Sugarland winner, Mary Hoffman did an amazing job singing "Baby Girl." She was so excited and told the crowd that it was a great experience getting to watch from backstage and listening to the crowd with in-ears. Mary even had fans in the crowd that made signs for her! It was a lot of fun and Mary did an awesome job representing Arizona. Watch her Sing with Sugarland audition video here.

Overall, it was one crazy night and one well never forget. Allie was so excited she could barely breathe, and Jennifer said that it was fans like Allie that made the show fun for her. Allie called her Mom on stage while she and Jennifer sang. And even though her eyes were filled with tears, she had a huge smile on her face. Kristian brought her water when she got a little choke up, and everyone high-fived her when she left the stage. It was a night to remember for Allie and for everyone in Rancho Mirage.

Eleven-year-old Nicholas Lee from Arizona came up to sing and dance to "Everyday America." And Heather Linden was in the crowd when Kristian and Jennifer dedicated "Already Gone" to her. She was sitting in floor seats and when Kristian and Jennifer pointed to her, she asked them to give a shout out to her parents at the back of the venue. "Your parents sacrificed so you could sit this close? Well, well play this song for you and them!" Jennifer said.

From the amazing signs to the amazing people at the concert, the entire night couldnt have been any better. Mostly, I do it for myself, so I can remember each night for years to come. Theres also the part of me that loves putting it up for other fans too. I love hearing different point of views from the same show, so I always look forward to hearing what other people think. I like to think that there are other people like me out there, so I blog.

Before I started writing this for the site, I went back and took a look at my post from the Pittsburgh show. I love the idea of this "Sugarland Blog" because it gave me an incentive to go back and look at a post I havent read in quite a few months. I had the biggest smile on my face the whole time I was reading it and reliving that May night! I have to tell you, I still remember every detail of that day. I remember how the tickets went on sale on my birthday - so I knew it was a sign that I had to make it up there. I remember the excitement as I started planning an early trip home to surprise my mom and sister for Mothers Day & my sisters graduation. I remember how it felt to be standing out in the pouring rain, playing our own version of Sugarland karaoke without a care in the world because all that mattered in that moment was that we were seeing Sugarland soon.

I remember getting up to the stage thinking it was all a dream because who really gets front row seats to see their favorite band anyways? I remember falling in love with Matt Nathanson right then and there (and 1 year & 8 albums later, he has become one of my top played artists). I still remember how beautiful Little Big Towns "Shut Up Train" was and how I wanted to sit there and cry. And even though I had just seen Sugarland 6 weeks beforehand, I remember how the energy felt brand new and seared right through me from the moment "Black or White" came on up until when Sugarland walked off stage.

I remember singing until my throat was raw (and thereafter), smiling so bad it hurt, and not being able to get enough of all the high 5s being thrown my way. Most of all, I remember looking back at my mom and sister and seeing the smiles on their faces. Nothing made that moment more complete than sharing that Sugar-love with my family that I hardly ever get to see anymore! Most of those memories are usually swirling around in my head all the time, but rereading my post did stir up a few new ones. Heres the post on my blog that talks more about that night.

Here, over a year later, I stand behind everything I said back then. This show was magically fantastic. I saw 2 more shows later that year, but there certainly are memories from only that Pittsburgh show that I will cherish close to my heart forever!

Thanks, Danielle for such a great story! Check out the other Pittsburgh blogs here.

From
Thu, 24 May 2012 07:05:00 -0700 Your Hands: Los Angeles, CA May 22

We just wanted everyone to know the show last night in LA was amazing! Beautiful theatre, perfect weather, and a crowd that just wouldnt quit dancing made the night one to remember. Fans were waving signs decorated with presents and dancing all night long.

Kylie from Corona, CA did an amazing job when she came up on stage and sang and danced during Everyday America. Quddus, the host from was in the crowd and when Jennifer gave a nod to the show by mentioning how she and Kristian had written as a duet, the crowd went crazy!

During Steve Earle, Kristian sat on the edge of the stage and took pictures while he was playing guitar. And during Baby Girl, Jennifer asked everyone to sing along. Kristian turned the mic toward the audience and LA really belted out the song! The crowd was so into it, that when Jennifer played The One I Love they kept singing along.

Two guest performers rocked the house Juice Newton and Dave Stewart. Juice sang Queen of Hearts at Kristians request, and Dave joined in Would I Lie to You as the last song during the encore. The birds chirping in the Twittersphere told us we even had a few special guests in the crowd: Ryan McPartlin from the Stuck Like Glue video and Scotty McCreery.

We had a great time and some of the songs requested were "out of the vaulted time capsule." I had all but given up hope of ever recreating a positive relationship with him, but one night, May 20, 2011, changed my outlook. My dad asked me what I wanted for my 18th birthday, and without hesitation, I said SugarPit tickets for this show. I originally meant for me and a friend, but he was so excited to go I couldnt tell him that.

I went home from school the day of the presale, logged onto the website 10 minutes early and sat there refreshing the page every 60 seconds until it was time to buy the tickets. I have never been quite so excited to purchase anything in my entire life. The day of the show, my dad picked me up from school an hour early, and we drove to the Comcast Center, about an hour away from home. We got there before the parking lots were even open, and sat in the car listening to The Incredible Machine on my iPod until we could go park. After we got out of the car, I triple checked I had my laminate, and we went and sat on the cold concrete for the next couple hours, chatting with all the other awesome and super dedicated fans who had lined up with us.

Theres something to be said for that experience of sharing time with complete strangers, some of whom had driven hours to get there. These are people that under any other circumstances, any other band, place, time, or reality you never would meet. I found it to be one of the most rewarding parts of the whole day, meeting these people and hearing their stories, and how Sugarland had touched each of them enough to be sitting on the ground with 2 hours to go before the doors would even open. Once we got inside, my dad and I managed to get a spot right up against the stage. The stands hadnt even begun to be filled yet, and I already had the sense that we were in for something magical.

The show started, and I right away melted in to the wonder that is Matt Nathanson. Phillip from Little Big Town reached down and handed me a guitar pick, something I will never forget, and something I wear proudly around my neck every day, and then the lights went down one last time. I think I took about 200 pictures that night, trying to capture as much of that night as I possibly could. I got chills the moment the first bars of "All We Are" flooded the air around me, and everytime I think of watching Kristian play guitar mere inches from where I stood I get goosebumps all over again. I can still feel this shivers running up and down my spine hearing Jennifer sing my favorite song, "Settlin," as I watched her walk right past me. I can still sense the unabashed glee that overcame me as I felt her hand hit mine as she walked by me during "Every Girl Like Me." I got home with a voice hoarse from singing and yelling, and a body sore from dancing. The smile didnt leave my face for days. But what I really got, as lame and cheesy as it may very well sound, is another chance at a relationship with the father I had almost given up on. There is something about the night we shared together that has inspired me to forgive and to try to move on. I think there might be a magical healing power somehow instilled in the words and music of "Settlin" and "Everyday America" and "Find the Beat Again."

I dont know how to describe it, but somehow, some way, there is something to this music that makes it more than just songs and instruments, but a tool that opens your eyes to what you have and what you could have and that, in my opinion, however much that matters, makes a Sugarland concert, this Sugarland concert, something that I will never forget because of what it gave me back, the drive and the desire to fix something that was very, very broken.

From
Wed, 16 May 2012 09:40:00 -0700 Blogs: Now Featuring Boston!

Sugarblogs are heading to the home of the Harbors, Red Sox and Terriers. Im 16, and May 13, 2011 was one of the best times of my life! I remember it so vividly and I frequently look back at the awesome pictures and videos I captured during the night.

When I first found out that Sugarland would be coming to Cleveland, I knew I had to go because I had gone to their two previous shows in Cleveland and I absolutely LOVED them! The only problem was it was on the date of my parents 25th Anniversary and they said they would not be able to take me. I was so disappointed and I brought it up to my brother. He and I started thinking and wondered if they wouldnt take us. What better than a Sugarland concert for an Anniversary gift?! We both checked online looking for the best seats possible and four months before the show, my brother and I purchased four tickets to see Sugarland!

My brother goes to college down in Cincinnati, so he worked his schedule out to come home that day to help make my parents anniversary so special. We decided to make it a surprise because we figured they would love not only the concert, but my brother being home. The night of the twelfth came and my brother waltzed through the door with the tickets. My parents were beyond surprised, yet completely excited!

The next day I could hardly concentrate in school. I was so excited that I could openly talk about the concert without trying to hide the surprise from my parents! Since I had been to two Sugarland concerts prior, I didnt think they could top the previous ones, but boy was I wrong! The show started with Matt Nathanson, who I loved before the show, but it made an even bigger fan out of me. Next, LBT rocked the stage.

The time finally came for Sugarland, and there was no better feeling than the pavilion being pitch black and the opening chords to "All We Are" starting! Jennifer and Kristian never fail to make me laugh and forget my troubles at their shows, and this one was no different! Every time they come to Cleveland, Jennifer manages to make a joke about the toilets overflowing from when they were at the Browns Stadium with Kenny Chesney. There were many jokes cracked during the night, and that is one reason why I love Sugarland so much!

Jennifer and Kristian had so much energy throughout the concert, bouncing all over the stage, interacting with fans. Kristian even ventured out into the audience to give a little girl a guitar! It was obvious that they all genuinely love their job of entertaining the crowd and they interacted with us on a personal level! We feared that it might rain during the concert, but it held out until literally the second they got off of the stage.

My family and I walked our way through the rain back out to the main area where the merchandise was being sold (where I bought a T-shirt and poster before the show started) and none other than Matt Nathanson was standing there! My brother and I stayed to get his autograph and a picture with him while my parents went back to the car. He was such an amazing guy! My parents couldnt thank us enough for the gift we gave them. We were so happy that we could do this for them! It was not only a bonding experience for my family, but also a chance to get to see my favorite duo in person! It wasnt an unlucky Friday the 13th after all!

Thank you Kristen for taking the time to tell us your story! Have you heard about ABCs "Duets?" Well, our very own Jennifer Nettles will be featured on it not as a judge, but as a competitor. Thats right, Jennifer, Robin Thicke, Kelly Clarkson, and John Legend will each be teaming up with a pair of undiscovered singers to show them the ropes and help them develop their sound.

Its a dream come true for the eight singers chosen to compete on the show. They come from around the country and now theyll be able to show the world their talent with some help from Jennifer, Robin, Kelly, and John. We know we cant wait to see what they can do!

Duets airs May 24 8/7c. If you want a sneak peek, check out this behind-the-scenes interview

We love the idea of Duets and it got us thinking. . .if you could choose a song to sing as a duet with Jennifer what it be?

From
Wed, 09 May 2012 09:25:00 -0700 Blogs: Now Featuring Cleveland!

Sugarblogs are heading to the Rock Roll capital of the world. After all, Charlotte set the bar pretty high!

You Raleigh, were loud and on your feet for the entire show. So loud that during the show Jennifer took a minute to comment on how pretty you sounded and later called the sound of your voices "madness" (in a good way of course)!

Hilarious props go to the creator of the sign that read, "If you play We Run Jennifer, we owe you a 1927 bottle of Madeira wine and Kristian, we owe you a Star Wars robe and light saber!" Kristian promised to wear the robe on stage and Jennifer to wear her hair like Princess Leia but she would not wear the gold bikini on stage!

Please note: we do not take bribes to play songs! Even if the bribes involve Star Wars robes and 1927 bottles of Madeira wine.

We usually like to keep the encore songs a secret but this one we have to tell you about! As you may already know, Dave Stewart (you may know him from the band The Eurythmics) is joining us on this tour. Together for one of our encore songs we sang "Would I Lie to You." And well, we cant lie to you, it was amazing!

Thank you for being a part of the show Raleigh! We will see you next time. Use the comments below to give us your concert report. We couldnt miss it! Or what about the Do Not Disturb sign or all of the signs with blinking lights? Great craftmanship! As Jennifer would say, it must have been a crazy "crafternoon!"

About halfway through singing "Baby Girl", Jennifer stopped the band. She saw 9 year old Anna Buzzard in the crowd singing EVERY SINGLE WORD. So we put Anna on stage and thats the picture you see in the blog.
